Captain and mate were great. They gently coached the new fisher folk, caught our baitfish, and headed out from Sayulita 5km to where the mahi-mahi were. We pulled in 18 to keep. The mate skillfully filleted 2 large and 3 medium for us. We asked them to keep and share the rest. A local restaurant turned one into ceviche and fish tacos for us, before we headed back to our resort. We’ll be challenged to consume and share the rest in the next couple of weeks. Yum. Josue and Tony were awesome. We met up, fished for some bait and caught a few small jacks while catching bait. We motored off shore and passed up schools of skipjack looking for some structure. When we found a log we were into the mahi mahi. All four of us caught great fish. Josue had told me to bring my fly rod and we had a skipjack landed on the fly and a mahi to the boat before it broke off. The fish was excellent in ceviche and grilled! Had a great day with Josue and his first mate Fernando.  Started with watching their skill at net casting for bait fish.  Must of caught several hundred in less than five casts.  With in minutes of getting the bait Josue put on us on Spanish Mackel, and we must of caught 10 + “keepers”.  Decided to go after some Mahi-Mahi, so we motored farther of shore in search.  Patience persisted and Josue found a large school of Mahi-Mahi.  It was almost as the fish were jumping into the boat. ... We did the morning trip and had the BEST DAY! We caught a large Mahi Mahi we are having a local restaurant cook up for us this evening and several other fish. Saw whale up close, dolphins, sting ray….my boys (10 & 13) said this was their favorite day so far! Would highly recommend Josue and his crew. Incredible.

I had a great time with Josue out on the water. He was really nice and accommodating to our wishes. He has very good knowledge about the area and we visited a lot of different spots. It was really cool to catch strong ocean fish on a fly rod and see how it pulled out the backing line in a few seconds (I usually fish grayling/trout). I recommend this trip for anyone who wants to do that. As a bonus we also stopped to look at some dolphins and humpback whales.
