Background: I am a Ph.D. Research Marine Biologist with over 40+ years of fishing, boating, and research experience. I have been successfully fishing oceans, lakes, and rivers all over the world and here in Tennessee for the past 5 years.
Techniques: One of my favorite fishing techniques involves trolling with planer boards with both live and artificial baits. I find that this method produces a better quantity, quality, and variety of species. Generally it allows me to have up to 6 simultaneous bait presentations which means more fish in the boat for you!! When the situation calls for it, I also rely upon jigging and casting strategies.

A beautiful day on Lake Chickamauga yielded a variety of species, including some nice 13-14 inch crappie. All fish were trolled using jigs and crankbaits trolled at 12-16 foot depths over submerged creek flats in 18-20 FOW.

You could not find a more accommodating Captain. Unfortunately, due to rescheduling with bad weather, I missed the Spring run of Crappie. But captain Smith pulled the rabbit out of the hat and found some nice fish.

Yes, too bad we missed the peak activity, but things will pick up in a few weeks after the fish recover from the spawn. I was happy at least that you got a nice, big 13+ inch fish, in addition to the smaller ones.
