- Background
- I grew up fishing these local waters with my dad and began commercial fishing in 1977 for redfish and king mackerel. I started tournament fishing for king mackerel in 1981 and came in 2nd place in the inaugural Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament that year. I began fishing the SKA Professional circuit in 2001 and have been very blessed since then winning 16 sanctioned tournaments and were the 2021 National Champion.
- Techniques
- We adapt to what is currently biting and the time of year as to how we fish and what we are fishing for. In the summer we specialize in slow trolling live bait for pelagic species or bottom fishing with live bait. In the cooler months we specialize in sheepshead fishing with fiddler crabs on light tackle or bottom fishing with heavier tackle for redfish, black drum at the inshore reefs and jetties. We also have an excellent fishery further offshore in the cooler months for many bottom species including snapper, grouper, and triggerfish.
