We had a great time with the crew! Fishing was great, my wife got sick out on the big water so they took us back inland more. We enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone. The boat is docked by Lucy’s restaurant so I suggest you take your catch their. The crew will fillet it and take it to the restaurant so you can eat it fresh. Thanks Rene for booking us last minute our previous charter canceled on us so we got lucky to go!

Captain and crew were very nice. We booked a whole day fishing trip to try to target bill fish. It was a slow bite and we know fish are never a guarantee. However we were very disappointed in our trip for other very concerning reasons. We caught 2 Mahi and 1 barracuda. We are people who fish every weekend at home and have done multiple fishing trips. Every charter we have been on keep the fish on ice. We started catching fish after a few hours of trolling. When we caught the fish they were put into a wooden box and left to die, no ice or anything. The guy just rinsed the fish with salt water everytime a fish was added. That first fish sat in that box in the hottest part of the day for 6 hours, and the other two followed shortly behind them. Fish should never just sit like that because it causes bacteria to grow rapidly. My husband told me we are not eating that fish and I did some research. Bacteria grow and the fish enters a danger zone within an hour in this kind of heat. We are so disappointed we paid 900 and didnt even get to eat the fish we caught. We are on vacation and did not want to get food poisoning. 900 and an entire day of our trip was wasted. I followed up with the owner of this charter and expressed my concerns and his response was that the fish can last 8 hours in that box and that its not poison. This kind of thought is dangerous to the well being of the clients. I would not recommend this charter if you actually want to have dinner from the fish you catch. However the crew should not be risking the health of their customers. A few bags of ice and the entire trip could have been different. Safety and health should be #1 priority. We ended up giving the crew the fish. We paid 900 to go for a boat ride and catch their dinner.

Had a great time fishing on our 6 hour run. We caught two barracuda, a king mackerel and a 4’ wahoo. They do a 50/50 catch. The crew filleted ours right there at the dock and we were able to have it cooked at our resort (Tamarijn) for dinner that night. Would definitely go again. The crew was amazing and well prepared for the 6 of us that went.

My wife and I went out with the Jeliray crew for a 4 hour morning trip. while we didn’t catch much but really enjoyed the interaction with Captain Swa and his son. We also had a true “the big one that got away” story as we lost what the crew considered a good King Mackerel close to the boat. The captain also explained to us a few things about the conditions and how it effects fishing as well as just some general conversation.

We did come back with a bonito and a very small tuna which were cleaned by a man on the dock, and cooked up by the folks at Lucy’s (a restaurant right in the marina) and we had a great lunch of our own catch! This was a great experience and really rounded out a great day.

One last thing I will add that says a lot about the crew and the owner Rene. We arrived with our credit card and cash for a tip and Rene asked us for the remaining fee before we left the dock. The card machine was broken and there was some back and forth as well as a moment that it seemed we would have to go back to our hotel (in a taxi), get cash, and come back (in another taxi) which would cost us probably an hour of fishing. Rene agreed to let us go out and offered to drive me back to the hotel when we returned to get cash and bring me back for lunch with my wife. He was VERY apologetic about the confusion. We had some great conversation and all was resolved.

This day proved that it’s not always about how many fish you catch but who you go with.

Captain and crew were amazing. We wanted to take some adult beverages along with us and one of the crew members walked us to the nearest store. They did everything to make our experience a great one!
