My family and I had a fantastic time with Captain Hoyt. We were communicating before the fishing trip because the wind in the keys was going to to be very strong. Captain Hoty was amazing with my kids, 11 and 15. They are both Scouts and Hoyt is an Eagle Scout as well. He asked all the questions my 11 year had and taught him how to see the fish on the sonar. I had told Captain Hoty ahead of time that we were looking for fish to eat and take home then maybe something exciting. We did have a learning curve using circle hooks but Hoyt was an excellent teacher and we were pulling in Mangrove Snapper, Lane Snapper and a few other fishing. I don’t remember. If you are a family doing family camp at Sea Bases Camp Sawyer, or just a family visiting the keys. Captain Hoyt is your guy. Perfect for 4 people and reasonable.

Captain Hoyte was a joy to spend the day with. His knowledge of not only fishing but local history of the area was outstanding! The excellent hospitality and the nonstop fish on the line made this charter above and beyond all others. I would 100% recommend that any angler looking for local flare, a great laugh, and nonstop fish on the hook book a trip with Captain Hoyte!

2 part review.  My brother and I brought our lifelong friend down for a private charter for his bachelor party.  I’m not much of an angler but I could fish with Capt Hoyte any day.  The man is a wealth of knowledge and skill he was the captain, first mate historian and a friend on this charter. The 3 of us couldn’t ask for a better memory and tally of fish.  We all caught countless breed and number of snapper on top of. Several other species my buddy capped it off with a 7’ lemon shark.. I’m over here hoping marriages don’t work out so we can go back.

We did the morning 4 hour fishing trip and we had a blast. Captain Watkins was very informative and did a great job getting our lines back in the water quickly after putting new bait or fixing lines. We brought our 11 year old son and he was very nice and patient with him and showed him tips on how to reel the fish in properly. Minutes later he reeled in a huge red grouper!! My father in law reeled in a Goliath grouper! In total we ended up taking home 11 fishes between snappers and grunts. Would definitely be back to enjoy another fishing day! Thanks captain for providing us a great experience!

Capt. Hoyt was great!  He was very knowledgeable about everything we were doing, and took the time to explain everything to us - he was very talkative!  He catered the trip to exactly what we requested: many catches of some smaller fish (the bite was constant for snappers and grunts), as well as the excitement of landing two sharks. He was full service, taking every fish off the hook and baiting every hook when needed. We caught 10 total species, and everyone had a blast.  10/10, would recommend, and would definitely do again!
