What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Tavernier, Florida for the first time?

The day started off a little breezy. Me and my buddy were not sure about the trip or if the fish would bite. We were wrong. Captain Keith put us on some fish and we killed it. What a great experience. Coming down from Atlanta he had all the gear we needed for a great trip. Looking forward to booking again. Certainly recommend.

It may be worthwhile to consider waiting until mid-May or June to fish Tavernier. That said, if the weather is not cooperating with your timing, fishing will not be as productive as you hoped it would be.

Don’t set expectations for yourself. Keep the energy positive and just expect to have a good time! We had great weather and enjoyed every minute of the trip! Catching fish was a great time but being able to make those memories with our loved ones was what made the trip even better!

I was looking for Snook, Tarpon & Redfish mainly and it wasn't peak season to get those. We also had the unfortunate situation of very low tides (and high tides were barely any higher) AND full moon, so that influenced the catches. But nonetheless, we got about 10 fish in the boat so overall happy with this trip.

Wear protective clothing to avoid sunburn, i.e. long sleeve fishing shirt with hood, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat. Lip balm. Snacks are good to take along. If prone to motion sickness then take Bonine 1 hour before trip.

Fish Jan to Feb for sails Fish May or summer for Mahi Jan thru May has been good for tuna but other months too I am sure Wahoo spring but dedicated and not easy so pursue after knocked off other bucket list fish Love April and early May for tarpon

go in with no expectation but to enjoy the day on the water and you will have an amazing time!

Be prepared for warm weather. Pack water and extra things you might need for the trip. Our Captin had just about everything we needed but we wanted to be prepared.

Was a little windy, but it’s fishing… you can’t control the weather. We went where the fish were when the wind wasn’t cooperating.

Great day on the water. If I did not have my kids, we would have been out in deep water looking for tuna. Kids had a blast reef fishing.

Most of the fish we caught weren’t keepers, but we had a blast and they fought hard. We caught enough that could be kept for a meal or two.

Relax and enjoy the time. You can't control the weather and rely on the local guides to get there.

Highly recommended. Experienced fisherman and navigator…… boating through the rough 3-4 swells and knows how to spot fish.

We got some small fish but it was still so fun! Definitely will come back to the Keys for a more in season time for bigger fish!

Ron is very professional and an expert fishermen for this area. He worked very hard to get us a nice catch.

Plenty of hungry fish off the patch reefs. Not so much on the bottom but pull them up and it is nonstop with plenty of keepers.

A down day in terms of fishing as there was not current but out of the captains hands. Still caught fish

Hire a professional like Captain Kevin. Heard too many stories of "no catch trips" during our stay in Keys.

Always trust the captain. He looked ahead and pushed up our date due to wind and water conditions and he was 1,000% correct. So glad too!

Book a trip with Captain Wayne this was our second trip with him very professional down the Earth expert cleaning fish there were no bones in it when I ate it

Water temps play an integral role in how the fishery operates. Go at ideal times or your results will be impacted.

Bring the Captain and mate a breakfast sandwich or lunch when you go. It is truly appreciated and simple gesture that we make new friends.

This was a fantastic first time experience. Large comfortable boat made the windy day we went out work well.

Even though we didn’t not catch our targeted fish we caught several different types l would recommend it

I would recommend to definitely do your research on the type of fish you are planning to catch, bait and most importantly the fishing regulations of that area.

Trout was plentiful. Did not go for any other species. I recommend being very specific with the captain on your expectations.

If you’re fishing in the winter, dress appropriately. It does get cold while driving the boat..
