What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Hampton, Virginia for the first time?

Now I was trying to be nice and share. But you and that trip sucked. I'm 58 and been on charters sense I was a little kid . You were trolling back and never backed off when we caught something . Good luck

Listen to your Captain and crew always. You may know what you are doing but they know the water. Remember the more heads involved in a hunt the better the outcome, especially when you allow combined experience to work.

Bring a jacket and be flexible with weather. The captain will do his best to help maximize the catch but it really all depends on the current. We caught a croaker and 5 round heads. We saw dolphin and sting rays as well!

I was amazed at the marine life in the Hampton area of the Chesapeake Bay. I saw more fish of various species in one day than I could have imagined. Red and black drum, spade fish, cobia, sheepshead, cutlassfish, dolphins (by the dozens), and even a sea turtle up close to the boat. The Bay water was beautiful, clean, and clear. If you ever go out once, you will be hooked for life.

Great for first time fishers, affordable and you get to experience being on the water and reeling fish in.

We had the most amazing time, laughing and fishing, but mostly laughing. Although the fish weren’t biting, it didn’t stop us from having the time of our lives. We have found our forever charter.

When it is warmer, you’ll get better results! The fish are biting , but with the wind & cold air … it’s better to wait until about March/April to get back up and running!

Hampton is a great place! Have fished Lower Bay and CCBT for over 30 years! Would not recommend Reel Blessed Fishing under any circumstances.

Waters can be a little rougher than down south; water isn't as clear(might effect bait); and try to be flexible/patient. Warm and cold currents can move the fish constantly.

Go in with low expectations. We had a fantastic day but the season has been hard this year. Not every trip will yield a big catch.

Make sure to wear proper shoes and listen to advice given by your Captain and first mate. Also use sunscreen and most importantly, just have fun.

Spanish were hitting pretty well for our trip. Good for a sure catch. Support your local private charters.
