What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Loreto, Baja California Sur for the first time?

They were very nice, but there are definitely areas they could improve, especially regarding service, cleanliness, and the condition of the safety equipment. The captain also smoked quite a bit, which was uncomfortable at times. However, I have to say that his knowledge, experience, and patience were truly exceptional. In fact, he is so good at what he does that you eventually stop focusing on the small issues. If your main goal is to fish, this is definitely the right choice. The captain’s expertise makes the trip unforgettable and absolutely worthwhile

Not the best time of the year, but OK. Also, for what it's worth, the panga operators shouldn't advertise fishing up to four people. Technically possible maybe for bottom fishing, but not for trolling or casting. Not enough room, or even enough seats. I knew this going in, as this was a low-key trip, but if you charter this way, expect two guys to fish and two guys to watch (and drink beer).

Be prepared for beautiful scenery, incredibly delicious fish, affordable deep sea fishing, experienced and talented captain and crew, simplicity and sheer joy of fishing. You will love it if you simply take the entire trip in. It's beauty, fish and simple pleasures rolled into one!

I really enjoyed everything about Loreto. Wonderful super clean place. Great food. Very friendly people. I think the world would be a better place if we all copied the people and place. Like I said super friendly. Everyone said hello. That doesn't happen anymore here where I live. Go fishing. Enjoy the people, history, the blood and town. And of course the fishing.

Fishing in Loreto this August was an unforgettable experience! While it was definitely hot, the incredible fishing made it all worth it. The crew did a great job keeping us comfortable despite the heat, providing plenty of water and shade on the boat.The warm weather brought out some amazing fish, and we had a fantastic time reeling in some impressive catches. If you're planning to fish in Loreto during the summer, just be prepared for the heat—but trust me, the experience is absolutely worth it!

Fishing in Loreto is very seasonal - be sure to check what fish are in the area during the time of your visit. If you are hoping for a particular fish species, they may not be around depending on what time of year you are fishing in Loreto.

Dorado, rooster fish, mackerel, and yellowtail are available in December. Small yellowtail you bottom bounce for in an area that can get very large rolling waves on windy days. So know that wind conditions will decide what is possible to go for that day.

Be prepared for the heat index. Drink plenty of water and gatorade. Use spray on sunscreen so your hands don't get slippery and smelly. Fish can smell the sunscreen from your hands when you handle the bait fish.

Definitely choose Rubio! They run a great operation with excellent customer service!

Get a panga, smaller boats rock too much. Get all inclusive. Rubio Sportfishing already had our bait, drinks, food, etc., ready to go. Other sites we waited almost an hour. Rubio was very good.

Be prepared for the heat in July. If you can't find any floating seaweed or debris, expect a slow day.

March is a bit slow. Not good for marlin, sail, dorado, but yellowfin is lots offun,and great tasting.

The weather(wind) can be unpredictable in January, take advantage of a window if you have one. We lucked out, went on a thursday, the wind came up and were unable to go the rest of the week.

A little late for sailfish, a little early for other species. Yellow fin did not cooperate at all. Lol.

Only Yellowtail running during our trip in May if you want to target mahi mahi and sailfish September is better

It was a bit windy so the ride was a bit rough getting to the fishing spot but not bad. Stay hydrated and wear sun protection. It is easy to forget when the fishing is this great.

Go on a calm day and evaluate the equipment before you go. Make sure the captain already has live bait and sufficient lures.

Hire a seasoned local professional to have the best chance to catch fish during that time of year, for the appropriate species of fish in the area.

Be prepared, I was fishing in February, bring a light rain jacket with hood, light weight gloves good sunglasses and plenty of sunscreen

Not the most optimal time to fish on Loreto. Right between yellowtail and dorado migrations. Phenomenal weather though.

If wanting to experience fishing for species other than yellowtail, push for that. Some captains ignore your wishes and still just push fishing for yellowtail

Be ready for some great scenery and fun fishing. Bring a hat, lots of sunscreen, sunglasses, and a long sleeved fishing shirt.

Had a great time our group had first timers and a former comercial fisherman, we had fun and caught fish

Don't expect big Dorado or Marlin in April or before. The water just hasn't warmed up enough yet

Really hot here in September. Would recommend waiting until it cools down in October.

Fishing isn’t as good as August, but it’s good and the weather is perfect. August can be hot!
