What would you recommend to anglers fishing in West Bay for the first time?

Eat a light breakfast before the trip. We brought ginger candies to help with sea sickness. We onky fished one day, so not sure how the rest if November is like. The crew said it was a slow day, but it was still 14 more fish that we had ever caught on trips elsewhere.

The crew can put you over the fish, but they can’t make the fish bite. There is some luck to this. But one thing I felt is this crew will do everything in their control to make this the best experience EVER!

Yes but obviously highly dependant on what’s biting. This style of boat probably a bit to sway-ey for some but we were fine. We did go out on another trip on a 32ft whaler and that’s more comfortable if not catching but tbf we had a decent meal out of our trip, so no complaints!

Be prepared to try different methods to catch fish, go in the morning- worth getting up early. Be fully covered in sun-clothes to not get sunburned. Plan on eating some of your catch immediately after. Best tasting fish you will ever have.

Like all fishing trips, it’s up to the fish. First time out, just barracuda, which were fun but not edible. Second time two large Wahoo! We fished close offshore and the boat is smooth and dry. A great experience.

In July- it was pretty hot, I suggest a boat with cover/shade. Most of the ride was calm but getting around the point had about 15 mins of rough waters- so if you get sickness- take Dramamine!! If taking kids- lots of suncreen and try to find a boat with a bathroom and shade because the slow ride out can get brutal from the sun. Overall- fishing was fun and got some good fish which we could recognize from prior snorkeling in the area.

The inner reef/bay trip was the perfect choice for my children whom suffer motion sickness. The action was great and kept us busy the entire trip. Catching a variety of local species kept our interest and allowed us to understand some of the fish behavior of the area.

From what we understood, this was the off season. Of course we wanted to find something like a wahoo, marlin, or mahi but that wasn't in the cards. We did, however, get a good number of smallish black fin tuna which were delicious.

I did wish we caught more and a variety, but that's how fishing is at times. We faired better than others that didn't catch anything at all. So overall it was a great day. I highly recommend Andrew and Y-Knot

We were lucky. The previous two days were bad for fishing. Summertime (off-season) isn’t the best time for fishing. You will have to be patient and hope that you have a great Captain like Andrew that just has that instinct to find them.

May is a good month for fishing. The boat is comfortable with plenty of shade. Kids like to feed tarpon at the dock where the fish are cleaned. Sharks come in also. Good restaurants near the dock area. Finish a day of fishing with a good meal. Very accessible from the seven mile beach area.

We had such an amazing time! Great boat, captain and mate! Caught my bucket list fish!

they say fishing is best before and after the full moon. always go early in the morning also

If you are looking to catch a big tarpon? Morgan's restaurant is the place get some good food and after go for tarpons right outside.

We wanted a reef fishing expedition. Short and sweet with fish in the cooler. This is exactly what we got.

Be patient while you’re fishing and rely on your captain to know where you’re likely to catch fish.

Be prepared for anything. don't expect to have fish jumping in the boat, but most likely you will catch somethiing

Fish weren’t biting as much as we’d like but we still had fun. Also it’s probably the case that we lost fish because we are not very experienced fishermen.

Know that if cold fronts come in the waters and currents can be rough. If you are not experienced snorkelers don't do the Conch dive.

Be prepared that if you catch a fish to eat it at Tukka;). They prepared an awesome meal and were more than happy to have us!!

Caught a couple of tuna, missed a big wahoo. There were fish around, but were short biting and missed a couple others. All around it was a great trip.

Check ahead of time what is likely to be caught, we got excited by the fish everyone listed, but some really aren't too common to catch during this time of year or at all.

We did reef fishing so we caught a lot of small fish which is just what we wanted for my grandsons fist time out.

Summer is not a peak time for deep sea trolling. You kind of get what you get and don’t get upset.

Do some research on charter catches in the days before following through. Wish I would have known they weren’t having much luck in the days leading up to our trip.

Temps were very high for this time of year so the bite was slow, but we still caught some fish and had a great lunch

I liked reef fishing get to run line out and feel the action on the pole, never know what will come up, triggers give a lot of fight for their size!

We caught a skip jack (small tuna species) and a local restaurant made it into ceviche for us. I recommend listening to captain Bobby. If there is a fish to be caught out there, he will find it!

Capt took us to the east end of the island where the fish were. Bite was a little slow at first, but crew kept working and we landed a monster tuna. Kids loved every minute.
