What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Everglades City, Florida for the first time?

The fishing has varied from one trip to another but I never tire of the experience of exploring those waters that I would never be able to navigate on my own. Having an experienced, conscientious captain take us out on a boat that is made for fishing in the flats which dominate that region has made very trip memorable.

No sitting fishing. We moved around and quickly when things slowed down or fish was too small. You definitely want to go with someone who knows the waterways

Be heat acclimated when you come. It’s hot and there are a lot of bugs. Plenty of hydration, sunscreen, protective clothing, bug spray needed…multiple application throughout the day.

We caught a lot of fish and a lot of different types of fish, but it would have been nice to have a few more keepers.

Be ready to catch fish.. I went for the series and had a blast! We had a manatee and sea turtle sighting…

Make sure to check tides and weather conditions. Two and a half hours going into high tide up to two and a half after is actually best. Cold fronts not so great.

If you’re fishing during the summer months, get out on the water as early as possible because it gets hot the fish slowdown.

Try to stay at the rod and gun fairy friendly people and when you’re ready to go fishing go to water boy charters in my opinion there’s none better

There are several charter Capts there, hook up with one of them and enjoy your day out. Ask questions and learn about the area.

If you make it to the area, you should really make this part of your bucket list.

Water was 90 degrees in the mangroves not a ton of snook activity with the heat.

Stay at Ivey house. Recommend setting your date around incoming morning tide, not outgoing.

It's a long way from anywhere. Many businesses only take cash. Spotty cell service.
