Beginning of March can be windy and this 2026 is no different. Huge schools of hard fighting Jack Creville start moving up the coast as it warms along with Cobia starting to leave the Gulf. Chumming with livies and throwing a baitfish on jig in the middle does the trick. HOLD ON tis a lotta fun.

As of early October; Blackfin tuna making a strong showing in 180’-330’ of water, throwing live pilch, trolling black rubber squid or Nomad diving plugs work…. In Hawks channel chumming up big schools of Jack Creville has been a blast. Shallow patch reefs starting to hold some nice Mutton’s and Grouper.

Some sporty waves however the fishing was so good we didn’t notice. Aspen and Sencer caught their fill of Mahi we then went to the reef for some yellowtail and got a nice Mutton snapper.

Despite the wind we got out yesterday. Normally would have canceled, younger and wanting to go. Water is cooling making bait easy to get and we found the fish eager to eat.

Staying out of the wind has been the biggest challenge as of late. Juvenile to midsize Tarpon are still plentiful in the Backcountry as well as Bonefish on the flats… Historically as soon as conditions allow Wahoo fishing off the reef should start firing up mid November.
