Bill and his son's up from the Ohio River for a little Walleye action. After the recent blow, the Lake Erie conditions were reset. When the 1st Walleye was netted, I was shocked at how cold the the fish was. It was clear that the lake temps from prior days would require a bit of patience to fulfill the Crew's limit. Crawlers on harnesses worked on Big Fish Tuff Tackle Co. TruTrip 50s 50 back and 65 back on the 40s. Reef Runner Tackle Company Deep Lil Rippers 60 to 80 back with 2oz on the Off Shore Tackle Company inline boards. My dock neighbor handed me a few Lil Rippers before today's trip. Wouldn't you know it caught the 1st and and the final Walleye. Dipsey 3 setting 36 to 45 back with harnesses. 1.5 setting 40 back no ring. After as slow period on the boards, I changed out one side to the larger profile Bandit. The Bandit got hit as I went to attach the snap weight. So, I set the 1st board 40 back and it caught right away. Then another was caught in the prop wash about 40 back before attaching a board. Fun to catch them up high mid summer. Tommy, Jennifer and their son Sammy headed to Lake Erie to try their hand at Walleye. We headed Southeast towards the Roller Coasters. We changes up the lineup today, pulling out most of the crawler harnesses. Instead we focused on Reef Runner Tackle Company Deep Lil Rippers on Off Shore Tackle Company planner boards with 2 oz guppy snap weights. We ran the Rippers 20/50. We also ran shallow Lil Rippers on Dipsey 3 setting 36 and 38 back. Can't leave out our main producer the Big Fish Tuff Tackle Co. 50s on the corners. 30 and 33 back with Jointed flicker shad. We also added in 2 harnesses one with BADMO Arrowhead large spinner, and one hatchet blade. Both ran 60 back on TruTrip 40 and Offshore boards. Speed until.we limited was 2.1 mph. We all reeled our fish before we got to 9:00. Since we had a lot of time to pass before the fish cleaner opened we set our Deep Lil Ripper back 50 unassisted, keeping all baits above 20 feet. We pointed the boat to the W and ran towards KI and along the SE shore line. We caught fish until we got to 18fow then pulled lines. Staci, Chris, Jamie and Jared headed East out of West Harbor until we reached 43 fow. Let me say it was a Badmo Day. This crew quickly mastered setting lines on big boards. They kept me busy setting until it was my turn to reel. We played catch and release until 10am then pointed the boat back to the Marina. The BADMO LURES Arrowhead spinners single, doubles and tandem all took quality fish behind Big Fish Tuff Tackle Co. TruTrip 40s and 50s. This weekends hot TruTrip lure was Jointed Flicker Shad. 33 and 43 back West of Bass islands and East of KI. TruTrip 40s 60 to 80 back. Dipsey 3 setting 36 and 42 back. Speed was 1.7 mph to 2.0.
