We have been catching multiple Cudas this week in the 30 plus pound range. Mangrove Snapper bite is very good, along with flounder. The Kingfish, Blackfin Tuna and Bonita are starting to migrate in at full force! Lets get out and take advantage of some of this fabulous fall weather!

Hi everyone! It has been a very long time since my last fishing report. We have bought a house and went through a hurricane in the last month. But we have been fishing in between. Fishing was pretty slow over the month of August and the beginning of September. We still put good number of fish in the boat, but the bottom fishing and inshore fishing was quite slow. Spanish Mackerel, Barracuda's, Sharks, and Goliath Grouper's were the stars of the show this past month. We fished this week after the hurricane, and everything has changed for the better!! There are tons of bait fish all over the reefs. The water temp has cooled 5 to 6 degrees and the migratory pelagic fish are making there way into the Tamp Bay area in full force. Fall is my favorite time to fish here. From here until December the fishing should be very consistent with lots of Kingfish, Spanish Mackerel, False Albacore, the occasional Blackfin Tuna and Sailfish. The Gag Grouper will begin to move closer to shore and the bottom bite will be on fire!! This week on the close reefs we managed to put together a great day in 6 hours. We caught Spanish Mackerel every cast, nice size Mangrove Snapper, Gag and Red Grouper, Sharks and Barracuda. A little further offshore I have reports from other Captain's who have fished this week that there are Kingfish and Blackfin Tuna holding on the offshore wrecks. We have been catching lots of fish close to the beach the past month. Lots of Spanish Mackeral, Sharks, Cudas and Snapper off of the reefs from 1 to 3 miles offshore. In fact, lately, we have been having better luck closer to shore then we have offshore. That means more fishing time and an easy ride out to the fish! We have been catching the Spanish Mackeral casting spoons on light spinning rods which is a riot. Then we use the Spanish Mackeral we dont't eat for shark and cuda bait! Paul had a great time with his mom and dad Kristin and Charlie! We caught a bunch of spanish mackeral and a few snapper on our 4 hour charter. Paul is one of the best young anglers I have ever seen. He fought goliath groupers, and caught dozens of spanish mackeral casting a clark spoon! Good Job Paul!

Fishing continues to be good on the nearshore reefs despite hot temps. We are catching a variety of snapper on the bottom, with lots of sharks, false albacore and spanish mackerel on the surface. The weather has been hot but gorgeous, with light winds everyday and very little rain. Come on out and lets take advantage of these beautiful summer days!
