The hurricane that never came went into the gulf, thank the lord! Last week we enjoyed excellent fishing from big Spanish mackerel and 1lb blues in tight to the beaches. False albacores ( 5lbs-12lbs) smoking our spoons in the 70ft range. The wrecks have been producing lots of good eating triggerfish along with a few keeper sea bass. Plenty of sharks around eating our rigs off, we pitch baits to them on spinners for a good fight. Back in the sound the light tackle boats are slamming the speckled trout and this week they've hit the big red drum. Fishing only get's better between now and Nov here on the Outer Banks of NC. We've really struggled with the weather for the past week. Big swell rolled in and lots of rain and thunderstorms. I got out several times between storms. Today we hit a wreck and had a catch of triggerfish and nice bluefish while drifting it. Also missed a shark on a live bait rig. Plenty of throw back sea bass. In along the beach keeper Spanish mackerel were hitting in the 30-40ft range along with 1lb blues. It's time for the false albacores to show up. We need to get some cleaner water in here and with all the bait around they'd show. Look for good action from 7lb-12lb albacores, triggerfish on the wrecks with a few sea bass, big Spanish out in the sloughs and hopefully some kings in the next few weeks. Let's roll give me a call! 8/21-8/24 Outer Banks Inshore Report August 26, 2017 | Poacher sportfishing 8/21-8/24 Spanish mackerel fishing during that period was excellent well South of the inlet. Nice blues in tight to the beach. Big false albacores are starting to show up right on time. Not many kings this week just a few keepers reported out in 90ft. Some inshore dolphin have been around if you can find some float or a little grass line. Had a good trip on the triggerfish on 8/23 along with just a few keeper sea bass. We also caught a short cobia that day. I'm getting reports of some nice cobia being taken but you really have to work at it to get a shot. Back in the sound the back countryt guys have been nailing limits of speckled trout with a few drum and flounder. Thank you, Devin Cage

Pretty weather and great fishing out on the Outer Banks of NC last week. WE had good catches of triggerfish off the wrecks with some king mackerel. In along the beaches on half-day trips we caught big Spanish mackerel and bluefish. Also had a few catches of triggerfish on the half days. Saw several nice cobia bunches but were unable to get a bite out of them. Still a few schools of large red drum around as well.. Big false albacores are also starting to show for their fall run.. A variety of fish this week out of Oregon Inlet in Nags Head. Schools of big red drum to 50lbs were found by someone most every day last week. Nice bluefish showed up along the beaches. Spanish mackerel fishing slowed but some mornings we still picked out some. Triggerfish are being landed on some wrecks. If you pull off the beach in 90ft of water you can still hit some king mackerel or large false albacores on big gear. Back in the sound the back country boats did well on speckled trout

7/27-7/28 We covered a wide range of fishing on the last 2 days. From bottom fishing on wrecks for triggerfish and sea bass to trolling for king mackerel and Spanish mackerel. Fishing was good both days, we had a nice catch of triggerfish on 7/27morning trip and limits of spanish mackerel caught while trolling on the morning of 7/28. On 7/27 the day before the ocean was rough and we caught false albacores,skipjack tunas which is rare for inshore some under size king mackerel and some nice Spanish. Thanks Devin Cage
