A shift in the breeze and just like that, fall is here. Last week it was spot, croakers, sharks and flounder hiding from the heat in deep holes. This week, puppy drum and speckled trout casting artificials, and flounder in creek mouths in 3 feet of water. Time to book your fall sport fishing trips. From now to Thanksgiving the bite should be pretty hot, even if the weather is not. Expect more breeze, chilly mornings and sudden changes. Throw on some blue jeans and a Hoodie, coffee up, and let's go!

As we write this report, the squally effects of Debby are upon us. The long term forecast is for cooler temps. It would appear the fever of summer has broke. A rogue cool water eddy has damped down the nearshore ocean fishing. Fortunately the flounder fishing has kept steady, and the warm Chincoteague Bay has provided refuge for our summer sharks. As the weather cools and the days grow shorter we will begin to search for Speckled Trout and Redfish deep in the marsh. We still have a few days open towards the end of August and plenty of availability in September and October. Come see why a quality fishing experience doesn't have to be expensive. Part of the fun of the SharkHunter trip is you never know who's going to show up. Josh from York PA found this out when he got worked over by a citation sized Red Drum along with 4 sharks in less than two hours last week. Now is the peak of the summer season. The onset of summer heat has brought the sharks to Chincoteague. Seems to be a large proportion of hammerheads this year, with their deceptive bites and unpredictable fights. Keeper size flounder are still on the menu, even with the new and enlarged size limits. Plenty of whiting, spot and croakers around to entertain short attention spans while waiting for the sharks to show. The rest of June and all of July are booked, but we still have numerous dates open for August and September. We are the most reviewed and highest rated single vessel operation on Chincoteague. Flounder season has transitioned into "what would you like to fish for?" season. Sharks, whiting, flounder, trout and more have moved inshore for the summer to create multiple options for fun on the water. Our calander has filled for June and July (still open Fathers Day June 16th and June 30th). If you're looking to get in on the fun in August now is the time to book. Flounder fishing is consistent and good. Warm sunshine and moving water are the key to getting the fish to bite. Low numbers of crabs keep baits fresh and no bugs keeps things comfortable. See you out there, Aloha!
