Well the wind has been a menace causing us to reschedule more than we wanted to. Though the days we are getting out have been red hot! Reef slammer porgies/ seabass still pounding jigs and blackfish can all still be found bottom fishing. Good reports of blues, albies and large stripers hitting top water. As long as we have bait and good water temps. Fish will be around. We have some limited dates but will be ending the 2021 season on 11/15. Until then as long as mother nature cooperates and the gales of November keep quite. We'll get some more fish! Then we can enjoy the holidays and look forward to April 2022. Weather the last few days has been awesome minus the fog! Days are getting shorter and cooler. The influx of bait has kicked up the bite into gear. The reefs and rips are chock full of sea bass, porgies and bluefish. This will remain steady for the fall run and Tautog season in CT starts next week! Make sure to get some time on the water! We have some weather forecasted for this weekend with an Easterly blow. It could make things a little tough. Next week looks golden!

The fishing has picked up since the storm. Bottom fishing for reef buster porgies has entertained all crew aboard our charters. Sea bass have been smacking willow jigs and bucktails with teasers in all colors. But more aggressive the jigging the larger the fish!. Find the bait and you'll find the fish. This Sunday we slugged out decent trips to keep everyone entertained despite the chop.

So we fished a dropping tide over a sand shoal that went form 38-60ft. When we arrived, the birds where beginning to work the rip line on large pockets of bait. My charter for that afternoon was excited because they thought there where bluefish in a blitz. I calmly explained they were seabass. They was very adamant they where blues! So I rigged up rods with bucktails with gulp minnow and strips squid. Set up a rod with a rubber shad and said let it rip. The first cast on a rubber shad was rewarded with a 24inch sea bass! The next two hours we where on fire we had our limits and where releasing 20" plus and could not get the bucktail to the bottom quick enough! Most anglers fishing for seabass fish with a small piece of bait on a hi-lo which produce small mediocre fish. When buck-tailing for seabass- color selection and presentation are key. Also, depth to where the bait is and where fish are located. Just dragging weight on the bottom is not fishing. Your arms should be tired at the end! Black sea bass will hit your jig up to the surface if you present it correctly- after the first hard hit get, more aggressive and play the jig- I can guarantee a second strike and a large bucket mouth!
