The Salmon River is running high, with flows around 2,000 CFS, but they’ve been steady — and the fish are responding. Steelhead are actively biting, and with spring right around the corner, more fish are beginning to move into position and set up for the spawn. These consistent flows are creating great holding water and pushing fresh fish throughout the system. Anglers are finding success drifting beads, egg sacs, and nymph patterns in slower seams and softer edges. From now through the end of April is prime time to target steelhead on the Salmon River. If you’ve been waiting for your window, this is it. Expect solid action, aggressive takes, and some of the best opportunities of the season. Get out there, cover water, and enjoy some excellent spring fishing!

Rob and his brother John came out with one thing in mind, to have fun and catch fish!! Boy, did they do both!!! These young men had such a great time fishing with me!! They both fought and landed fish and left with a smile!!!

The low water didn't stop Phil from landing this nice male Coho!!! The large pools are starting to fill up with fish!!
