If you got a windy day try the St Johns river.
There are places you can get out of the wind. Dockside Seafood restaurant is right by the boat launch. Come off the water and chow down on fresh fish and shrimp.

It is very hot, especially on the River side. Was super grateful that we did not spend the majority of our time on the river or it would have been rough

Iโm disappointed that the knit on Redfish has decreased to 1 fish per angler. We caught the limit in less than 90 minutes. The trout were not biting so we fished for 2 1/2 hours with no success, which was disappointing.

Don't be afraid to ask your captain lots of questions -- our captain was very knowledgeable (about the fish, water, equipment, seasons, local area, etc.) and quite friendly. He was eager to teach us about fishing these waters at this season and was also willing to engage in conversation along other lines.

The type of fishing we did was backwater with a depth from 3ft to 20ft. The fishing in the backwater was better than expected. So, yes I would recommend fishing in Jacksonville.
