Trip Summary

Gusty winds kept us off our preferred spots today, but we managed to take some bass, drum, and 9-10 inch crappie in the more sheltered areas. Water temps are falling and the fall bite is ahead.

Record-breaking warmth has sent the crappie onto spawning beds in 5-6 feet of water. Water temperature on submerged creek flats was in the lows 60s.

Despite the wind, we caught some nice crappie today and kept the ten largest. All fish were taken pulling and pushing jigs and crankbaits at 12-15 foot depths. The largest crappie were just shy of 14 inches.

After a cold (26 degree) start, we had a good trip on Chickamauga today with over 30 fish landed and released. The bulk of the catch was crappie, white bass, and striped bass. Three of the largest crappie were within 1/4 inch of earning Wes TARP certifications. Most fish were taken pushing or pulling tandem cranks and jigs. Surface water temperatures were around 50 degrees.
