My wintertime nearshore trips for sea bass fishing have been on fire all winter. We’ve been running just 3–10 miles offshore and bottom fishing over hard structure, and the bite has been steady from the first drop. Most trips we’re catching dozens of sea bass per person, with plenty of action in between keepers. We’re sorting through them to find the right ones, and when it’s on, we can put a solid box together fast — current limit is 7 keepers per person. If you want a winter trip with nonstop bites and a cooler full of fish, this is about as good as it gets.
