50 miles is not that far in distance but it is definately having different effects on the two bodies of water that we primarily fish. Ice is building on the Illinois Chain of Lakes. Soon we should have safe ice to fish. We 4 hour evening tips during the week and 5 hour morning and afternoon trips on the weekends. On Lake Geneva in Wisconsin the water is currently 44 degree and the conditions are perfect for night trolling walleye. Will it be cold? Yes. Is it worth it? Definitely.
