One of the sailfish's behavioral characteristics that is most advantageous to our charter fishing operation is coastal proximity. While sailfish are open-ocean dwellers, they often venture closer to shore in the Riviera Maya, particularly where coral reefs and freshwater runoff create productive feeding zones. In addition, the quick drop off of the continental shelf, very close to the Riviera Maya shoreline, allows sailfish quick access to deep water, and then also quick access to shallow bait fish concentrations.
