The water temperature is starting to increase, we’re getting closer to 70° in the top 6 inch layer and that’s when everything is really gonna turn on. The average catch size of smallies seems to be growing each year and this spring is no different..

In the calm the bass were surface feeding or “gorging” on alewive hatchlings and pickerel were bathing in the sun on the rocky points. No monster bass in thus run but the pickerel were definately beefy!!

Have been offering a modified afternoon trip, the target is 5:30 PM till dark or a little after. Focused on the deeper holes next to structure. Massive schools of white perch as well as nighttime hunters. It’s a spooky good time.

Beautiful weather trip, fish were finicky, lure selection was key…white perch are showing up in the deep hole whereas the big bass are chasing Alewive hatchlings right out of the water. Casted into the center of a fleeing group and nailed this big guy.
