How was my fishing experience with Chasin Tides Charters Where should I begin??? First I chartered the trip expecting that I was getting a seasoned Captain Named Chase Ebelry. As per our reservation we were told to show up at 300 Dorchester St. and the boat was in slip 10. We showed up early and walked out to look at the boat in slip 10. It was a very nice boat. As we waited at the dock another fishing group larger than ours showed up and was waiting also. Then a young man showed up and asked for me by name. He said that our boat was up and around another building in a different slip. When we got to the boat it was approx. 20% smaller than the boat in slip 10.ย Our Captain was not Chase Eberly as per our reservation, but a college aged kid who apparently did fishing trips as a side job and a young man who was supposed to be his mate. While the young Captain seemed like a nice enough person, in my opinion he had no regard for the age or well being of his charter customers. As soon as we got out of the dock area and in the inlet it was apparent that it was windy and the sea was rough. He said he was taking us out approx. 20 miles to fish a wreck for sea bass. Now in the young Captainโs defense it was windy and the ocean had approximately 3 to 4 ft. swells. That being said, he cranked up the power and began heading for the wreck. For approx. an hour and a half we endured one of the worst boating experiences in my life. We were literally flying out of our seats as he powered through the waves. Our entire group was totally soaked. I could not have been wetter if I had just jumped in the ocean. The battering we took powering through thru the waves was horrendous. My 75 year old brother has a bad back and we had to help him off the boat when we returned. When we arrived at the fishing area the Young Captain said sorry for the rough ride they did not expect the conditions. We fished at several different spots and caught 6 legal sized sea bass and several small ones that we threw back. The mate started out ok cutting up bait, prepping our fishing rods and being attentive to our group. As soon as he saw we could bait our own hooks and take off the fish, he quit attending to us and started fishing himself. To the point we had to continually ask him for bait or assistance for tangles or other issues. He seemed more interested in fishing than taking care of his customers. When it was time to return the young Captain said the trip in would be better because the wind was at our back. The trip back was just as bad and the young Captain was running probably 25% faster than on the way out. We were hammered by the waves again and also were completely soaked again. Had he just slowed down going out and coming back we would have been ok. I have been on at least 30 ocean fishing trips in my life and some were on rough seas. But I was never soaked to the bone and pounded by the waves as I was on this charter. I chartered this fishing trip with my family members as a Birthday surprise for my 75 year old brother. He had a terrible time and when he got up the next day he could barely get out of bed and walk. Thatโs how badly his back was beat up on this trip. We were all sore from the pounding we took on the boat. It is my belief that the larger fishing group that showed up got the boat that we reserved and we were pushed to another boat because we were a smaller group. I or my family would not recommend Chasin Tides to anyone. Without a doubt, this was the worst fishing experience of my life.

Hope you guys had a great time hope to get you guys back out on a better trip with more action
We caught many fish with very good equipment but after the trip when I paid the 500 i owed I threw in a 20 dollar tip because that was all the money I had and the owner said that wasnโt enough and said we need to tip more next time but after that, there wonโt be a next time. A service industry must treat its customers well or they wonโt have business.
Thank you for your review
I want it to make it very clear the mate and captain worked very hard to put you on fish which they did and also provided free fishing cleaning Prior to the trip you were informed that Mate works for tips and you are welcome to take your business else where because your are not welcome back
I asked you if the mate had done anything wrong to deserve a 4% tip your exact words was that he did a excellant job it means that you sir are cheap when a standard tip for a mate server waitress is 15-20% if they do a good job.
The mate makes his pay off tips and that is how he makes a living and if i do not stand up for my employees when a customer stiffs them. I will gladly take a bad review because sir you are a bad customer m

Booked a 5 hour trolling trip and when we got there the captain said that we were going to go bottom fishing bc they have been having better luck. Then I kept having problems with the reel, and the captain and mate basically were telling me that I didnโt know how to use it, when Iโve been fishing longer then they both been alive. So then the captain took the rod and tried it out and when her did he ended up breaking the rod bc the reel messed up.
We are sorry you guys did not enjoy yourselves we made a decision to bottom fish instead of troll since we believe it would of been more productive and catch fish which it did if that is not what you wanted to do all you had to do was speak up before we left when we were going over stuff and we would of gladly trolled and put a full effort into that
Were not permitted to castle or bait your own line
Hello Ryan you were welcome to cast your own rods as explained in the beginning of your trip we were only trying to help raise your chances of catching fish by placing baits where they needed to be under the bridge As for baiting your own hooks that it what your mate is there to do if you had wish to bait your own all you had to do was speak up As we let you know in the beginning of trip if thereโs any issues or questions just let us know so we can address them during the trip and not afterwards if you would like to discuss this further you are welcome to give me a call I am sorry you guys did not enjoy yourselves have a nice day
