The crew was great.  They were very friendly and excited to go fishing with us.  Unfortunately,  we only caught 2 fish.  Of course it is called fishing and not catching.

Good trip! The captain did a great job in 5ft seas and our mate Eddie was awesome. 10 fish on the boat! Mahi, Wahoo and Barracuda.

First, really appreciate the communication with the charter operator starting as soon as we booked the trip. Big Marlin Chareters was proactive in front of the upcoming weather forecasted and found a way to move our trip forward 3 days to still get us in before the coast guard shut down the charters. Second, the shuttle transfer from resort to marina was perfect. Clean, polite, professional, and air conditioned van! It’s a well coordinated charter with the door to door service, no idle time. Captains Rosario and Coco on the Fortuna worked their a***** off to put us on some fish, and we did manage a few but the ocean wasn’t really offering much up today. In hindsight my only critique was the limited selection of gear on the boat, but they are trying to put you on that fish of a lifetime and that’s how they are setup. The gear they do have was quality (50w Tiagras and Penn Internationals) so if we had hooked that marlin we’d be in a good position to land it. If given the option after chasing big fish the first half of day I would have liked to switch up gear and boat some of the small mahi that were willing to play. Had a pretty decent mixed swell (probably 5-8’ with a definite wind chop), keep in mind geographically Punta Cana is the windward side of DR, don’t fool yourselves into thinking this is the leeward side of the island. If you book this be sure you bring a positive attitude, it’s offshore fishing! And please tip the boat properly, 20% should be the expectation. These guys are there before you and stay after. In the end we very happy with the trip, Big Marlin Charters was top notch, and absolutely recommend if you want to chase that dream fish. Thanks again for taking care of me and my family! Would not hesitate to do this trip again.

We had our trip canceled on the fortuna due to weather so we went in the Sherlock the day before. Very grateful they could accommodate us. It was a slow day, morning crew only caught 1 fish. Our captain did everything he could to put us on fish. 1st mate kept us entertained with historical knowledge and music. After an Hour into our 4 hr trip the captain spotted a group of Mahi ( No idea how ) and we were on. In total we caught 2 Mahi, 2 Wahoo and 2 barracuda.  Great day of fishing.
