The weather was nice on the land but turn out to be windy out in the sea. The captain is very skilled navigating through the waves, but the high waves and lack of seating on the boat made it difficult for us to enduro the trip. The boat turned around before we reach the first fishing point, and the service refused to refund or offer discount. Given the condition of the sea there should be an offering of rescheduling the trip and warning before embarking. Also, I think basic seating should be provided, there is only one unattached single beach chair onboard for 4 of us, I don’t believe that is safe. It was a bad experience for us, but it might be ok for you if the weather is perfect.

My apologies that you guys had a less than stellar experience. There are bean bags onboard for seating and they are quite comfortable, you guys should have made use of them. The report from the captain was that the guests were sick almost immediately and unfortunately we still have to pay our crew whether the trip runs the full duration or not. If conditions are unsafe, we will not run. The conditions were honestly pretty average for the gulf. Again, I’m sorry you guys had the experience you did, but seemingly it has less to do with the accommodations and more to do with preparedness. On your next adventure you may look into patches or start Dramamine 24 hrs prior to shoving off. I don’t mind the concept of discounting the return trip for redemption, so feel free to reach out!

We booked a half-day trip for 6 guys. When we arrived the captain informed us that weather had stated 2ft. waves but the waves were 6-7ft. We aren’t fishing captains so we told them whatever they felt was best. They said it would be “rough” but they could take us out. Several similar size boats were heading out at the same time. Let me say this was the roughest ride of our life! About everyone threw-up 3-4 times but this is not the reason for the review. From the time we got in the boat there are twin engines with one working great and the other was spitting white smoke exhaust constantly, I asked the captain about and was told that it needed to be repaired that it had a broken thermostat and needed a spark plug. The fumes from the exhaust lasted the entire time, even at an idle. 6 hours of breathing this made us more sick than the waves did honestly. It was clear that they needed the funds from the trip to “fix” things on the boat. The captain and first mate were great guys. Nice and very personalable but ultimately we came to fish and not hangout. They kept taking us to fish next to the oil rig ships and we did that the entire time. Never went out to fish in the actual fish areas and it wasn’t because we couldn’t but that they wouldn’t go further out to fish. When we returned to the dock a few boats of the same size that left when we did had returned with 10+ reds, king fish, etc. The captain called and canceled his second trip due to the waves but we wish the captain would have assessed the situation and done the same for us if he wasn’t going to go out to where the fish are. To our dismay we had waiting to go in this trip for 6 months, spent gas traveling, hotel and meals was over $1500 to just breathe exhaust, throw-up 3-4 times each, and catch no fish. If you pay this much money to fish you expect a well maintained and functioning boat, experienced on the waters, and not force a trip on a boat that needed repairs. We wish we would have chose a different boat and would not recommend based on our experience.

Hey Cody! Man, we hate to hear of such disappointment on one of our charters, but your frustrations are understandable! When the Capt asked you guys 2 or 3 times at the jetties if you’d like to follow through or call it due to conditions, y’all were all about goin after em’. Understand there there is a big difference between unsafe and uncomfortable and your comfort level isn’t the same as the next persons, however we will never run an unsafe trip. As far as where you were fishing and what you were fishing for, you booked a statewater fishing trip that is not permitted to fish federal waters and is priced accordingly. We put a ton of time, money, and effort into keeping our vessels clean, safe, and reliable, but as is the case with anything mechanical, it will fail and that motor did exactly that. I’m not certain of the conversation on the boat, but that motor failed and had to be replaced after your trip. It would be customary for me to make an attempt to salvage a customer based relationship and offer you a discounted trip on one of our other boats, but since you never stated a grievance, or brought it to our attention to try and address, we will just wish you the best of luck in your future fishing trips and hope you salty gents find some Dramamine on the way to the docks for the next go round. Tights lines amigo!
