Starting the morning off on the beach getting to meet Roy and Louise brought such a personal touch! Then it was off to the Rainbow Runner with Captain Gerald bringing his 20+ years of experience of fishing and expert driving skills he made the 2 to 3 foot seas seem like a glassy day. Right as we got the baits in we had a sailfish surface and charge at the baits, couldn’t get it to bite. Followed it up with a stud mahi and a few more exciting hits from sailfish, tons of dolphins, and some of the best granola bars I’ve ever had (I need that recipie). What an amazing experience it was, next time I’m back in Tamarindo I know who I’m calling! CAPULLO OR BUST!

Wow this was so fun! I would do this again for sure. I want to start by saying that I got crazy seasick the first part do the trip. So the other people of mmmm my trip were able to fish and have fun. Captain Gerald was kind and considerate of how I was feeling. He switched up our location and type of fishing we did to maybe help how I was feeling. After a bit I did feel better and was able to enjoy the fishing experience. Gerald has been practicing for 30 years and knew so much about fishing and the ocean. Please take advantage and ask him all your questions! The snacks provided were more than enough for this half day trip, and it was nice not to have to worry about bringing our own stuff. The best part was that he cut up the fish for us and we were able to have it for our dinner. El Chiringuito in Tamarindo took it and cooked it how we wanted. This whole group seemed very professional, I highly recommend them!

We had a great trip with Capt. Gerald. Meeting up with the owners and boat in the morning was all on time and easy and we were on the boat and headed out by 7am. Captain Gerald was very friendly and welcomed us aboard. The boat had an excellent Bimini top which was key in the afternoon and was socked well with plenty of waters, beer, sodas, sandwiches, snacks….and BAIT.  The fishing report was a bit slow for the week so we headed south to avoid the winds and find some signs of life. We ended up trolling with the biggest pod of Spinner Dolphins Id ever seen, thousands of animals. We trolled and casted for tuna for a few hours but had no luck so we broke free from the dolphin pod and started trolling north and thats we when we got some action. We had a few Mahi run through the gear and finally hung one a nice one but the prize of the day was the 40# Whaoo.  Captain Gerald fished hard all day for us, changing baits and lures serval times and we were one of the only boats to catch fish that day.  I will definitely go out with him again.

Gerald is a magician! He got my son a beautiful Mahi which we enjoyed when we got back to land. He found the fish, rigged our rods and held like a gps on grouper for bottom fishing. Roy, the owner, took me to get sun screen, took my wife and daughters on a tour of Tamarindo, and joined us for a drink after the trip. GREAT people, who care about your experience…we saw a juvenile Humpback whale, dozens of dolphin, and several mating pairs of turtles on our trip. I’ve been fishing charters for many years and this was one of the best! Highly Recommend.

We had really bad weather, it was rough and rainy most of the time but everyone made the best of it and we still caught fish! My bf and I caught our first tuna. Unfortunately I got sea sick and we had to head back early but we had fish on the boat almost as soon as the captain dropped the lines. It would have been perfect had the weather been nice but that’s out of our control.
