We had an absolutely incredible fishing trip in Costa Rica and couldn’t have asked for a better crew. Captain Christian put us right on the fish, and first mate Betto was outstanding — knowledgeable, hardworking, and genuinely fun to be around. Thanks to them, we caught seven sailfish, which was beyond exciting and more than we ever expected for one day.

They were professional, patient, and made sure everyone felt involved and comfortable the entire trip. The boat was well run, the experience was smooth from start to finish, and the energy on board made the day unforgettable. (Lunch hit the spot)

This trip was a highlight of our vacation. Glenn and I will be talking about it for a long time and would 100% recommend this guide to anyone looking for a top-notch fishing experience in Costa Rica.

I Can’t say enough about this experience, Christian, Betto and Angelo went out of their way to accommodate Donna and myself. Memories for a lifetime! I hope I can make it back one day.  SEVEN Sailfish with Donna’s coming in at 106 inches.  Ended the day with Pura vida!

We had an excellent fishing charter with Hooked up fishing.  We are fishermen who go on an international charter annually, and fish in Michigan weekly and have done so for about 25 years.  Between the two of us, for   this charter, I wanted to fish near shore to catch dinner and roosters and my buddy wanted to trophy fish.  The crew were very accommodating and worked very hard to accomplish both.  We did wonderfully.  I got my first ever Cuberra snapper and rock snapper (which were absolutely delicious)  Then we went off shore to find bigger game.  We went 3 for 5 on sailfish.  An amazing experience catching my first sailfish also.  We got to see a giant turtle, bottle nose dolphins, humpback whales, pilot whales and amazing scenery.  We absolutely loved the day.  Captain Christian, Mate Beto and Mate David were excellent, they worked very very hard to accomplish our goals and were very invested in achieving what we desired.  That’s all, anyone could ask of a crew, even on a tough day… thankfully this was a very productive day.  Muchisimas gracias to captain and crew for an awesome day!

I’ve been on guided trips all over the world. This crew bangs! We took a long ride out, maybe 25-30 miles. They made it comfortable with pineapples, drinks and bean bags chairs. We caught two giant sailfish on the way out. Then we got into the tuna. Tuna so big and so many our arms were busted. The crew had to help reel them in. Then the crew was tired and the captain reeled in one. Meanwhile when they weren’t reeling in 80-90 pound tunas they were processing them. Complete pros! We raised three swords, and landed two, 14 huge yellow tails and boated 10. Every tuna was a 20-30 minute fight and we had doubles hooked multiple times. If you’re in Jaco or Herradura and want to get worn out till you can’t even reel book this boat. We came back to the hotel/resteraunt with 40 pounds of pure boneless tuna. All our friends and staff feasted, and we only got 1/10 of the meat. They process close to 1000 pounds of fish! Humberto, Christian and Captain Piscano were top notch. If you like to party a little they are cool with that too. I can’t wait to come back! Absolutely amazing!

Booked a full day, crew needed to make a pit stop for fuel and bait (thojght that would have been done prior). A couple of things to “watch out” for.
1. You need to take a taxi boat out to where they are moored. this is nore or less dependant on when the boat and crew are ready,  not when you booked your charter for.
2. We accidentally left our sandals on board at the end ofour charter.  within 1 minute of my toes hitting the sand i texted asking to get them back. was told it wasnt possible because the crew was gone. had to wait a full day. by the way you communicate with a 3rd party, and not the captain directly which is hugely inconvenient. like playing telephone tag.
3. upselling you on your catch for taxidermy services. if we aren’t catching trophies, don’t waste my time.

overall we caught a couple of tuna but were informed sailfish are dependant on the lunar schedule?  had hoped for more but that’s fishing.

crew provided some snacks and beverages in board but literally work every day and hammer out charters so service isnt their priority. seems more lik survival and on to the next charter.

We had a great day on the water fishing with Hooked Up Sportfishing. These guys worked hard to find the spots to fish in and never gave up. They were awesome!
