When you join one of our fishing charters, youโ€™re stepping aboard a working vessel guided by a licensed captain with deep knowledge of Hawaiสปiโ€™s waters. Many guests ask how fish distribution works, so we want to share a bit of insight. On our charters, the primary service is the fishing experience itselfโ€”time on the water, learning techniques, feeling the bite, and connecting with the ocean. While guests may receive a portion of the catch to take home, fish distribution is handled by the captain. Some days we catch more, some days lessโ€”but every trip is about the adventure, the learning, and the memories made on the water. We appreciate our guestsโ€™ understanding and aloha as we share this incredible experience together.

Heading out on the water with us means adventure, sunshine, and unforgettable memoriesโ€”powered by a captain who works hard long before you ever step on the boat. From checking weather and prepping gear at sunrise to cutting bait, cleaning your fish, and keeping everyone safe, your captain puts a whole lot of heart into every charter. What many people donโ€™t know is that the charter fee mostly covers the boatโ€”fuel, maintenance, tackle, licensing, and all the behind-the-scenes costs of running a safe and fun ocean adventure. Tips, however, go directly to the captain as a โ€œYou nailed it!โ€ appreciation for their time, skill, and Aloha. Just like youโ€™d tip a great server for an amazing meal, tipping your captain (usually 15โ€“20%) is the best way to say โ€œMahalo for making our day awesome!โ€ Whether they helped you hook fish, answered every question with a smile, or filleted your catch to perfection, your tip tells them their hard work made a difference. Captains do what they do because they love the oceanโ€”but your kindness helps keep that passion alive. So if you had a great time on the water, donโ€™t forget to sprinkle a little Aloha their way.
