I really liked Fred’s captaining. He wasn’t controlling but he helped and let you do your own thing. If you wanted to cast your own he was okay with that and my wife needed help and he was happy to do that. I’ve met a few charters that if you got snagged or tangled while casting they would be upset. That’s not Fred, he’s calm and willing to help and he seems happy to do it. The boat was great! I wouldn’t eat off the deck but heck who would it’s a charter! But we felt comfortable the moment we walked on. His equipment isn’t the most expensive but it more than gets the job done. I saw someone earlier say it wasn’t up to their standards and that guy must hold some high standards. Because at first I couldn’t cast under the trees to save my life. And by the end I was hitting right where I wanted to. I also don’t think that was my skill but the good equipment

We caught 6 Sea trout in a matter of seconds when we pulled up to the spot. He cleaned them and got to take them home. We also caught a snook which was fun! I wasn’t thrilled with the amount of fish we caught but I also know some days you’re just luckier than others. I think Fred is really really good fisherman and knows goods spots I think the fish just didn’t bite all day. But heck that’s the way it goes. We also got to watch him collect his bait which was a unique experience! I would normally be upset if the charter got bait while we were supposed to be fishing but Fred kept us about an hour and half past our 3 hour mark so we had more time then we signed up for.

Overall like I said I think the boat and captain are great! We limited on trout so I was very pleased but I think for other fish the day just wasn’t right for them. I would love to try again with Captain Fred!

When life gives you lemons 🍋 (WIND), just make lemonade. The windy conditions today meant poor conditions most areas, but Captain Fred had a plan. I’ve always wanted to catch a Peacock Bass and thats what he suggested. Canal fishing for Peacocks and Snook. While the Snook eluded us, the Peacock bass were on fire 🔥. My wife even got into the the action which was great! I’ve fished with a lot of captains around south Florida, some great and some not so much. I’ll fish with Captain Gowdy again soon that’s for sure and I highly recommend him for your day an the water. Until then, tight lines! Thanks again for a great day!

I had an excellent experience with this charter. The captain was ready and waiting for me at the appointed time. I had originally booked a trip for the day after a cold front went through. The Captain contacted me and offered to push the trip back one day for warmer water and weather, which was a great choice. We trolled for jack crevalle at the start and end of the charter, but no luck today. We then went out to one of the bays for sheepshead. We had good luck, with five decent keepers and a number of smaller fish. The rods and reels were top flight snd worked flawlessly. The trolling motor on the boat kept us right in our target spot despite a fair amount of wind and a strong tide. Captain Gowdy is friendly and conversant, adding to the enjoyment of the trip. At the end, he skillfully cleaned and bagged the catch. Finally, I am somewhat limited in mobility, and he took extra time and effort to safely and comfortably assist me onto snd off of his boat. I would highly recommend this charter, and plan to book it again myself in the near future.

My 12 year old son and I had a wonderful day with Captain Fred! He took us to so many fishing spots and we were very busy catching fish after fish. He also went above and beyond to teach my son some fishing techniques. I would highly recommend Captain Fred!
