I’ve been wanting my husband to experience fishing on the ocean. Captain Mike was perfect fit for my goofy husband whom enjoyed every second of the trip. He caught a bunch of fish. They helped us arrange to get them home. WOW I’m super impressed and would recomend them to anybody and everybody.

My first time fishing for me, my wife, son and daughter, and would highly recommend. Mike is a great tour guide of the sites around the bay and a good at explaining and coaching us how to fish.  Karen is also very communicative about process and organized which added your ease and comfort.

This was my 4th or 5th charter, but my first time using Bubba Jean and Captain Mike. Previously I had never caught any fish I could take home. I told Mike prior to booking that if I came home empty handed, I was done fishing in San Diego and spending this kind of money for nothing. He took that as a challenge and did not let us down! We caught 3 bluefin totaling over 130+ pounds! It was an AWESOME day.

The boat itself was super clean. You can tell his wife, Karen, really spends a lot of time making sure it looks good and is acceptable. He also had the cleanest head (toilet) I have ever seen on a boat. And plenty of room underneath to store your belongings.

I will not be chartering with anyone else in the future except Captain Mike. We had so much fun and Captain Mike and Karen made it so special for us!

We found a gem with Capt Mike, Admiral Karen and The Bubba Jean! What an incredible half day trip!  The Only way to experience fishing on the bay complete with a history lesson that taught us more about the ships, structures, legends, and happenings in San Diego than anyone could ever learn in a lifetime.  My buddy and I took our teenage sons out and we had a blast.  Catching fish is of course the goal, and we did, but spending time with Capt Mike made it an epic adventure. 

Super easy logistics. We showed up, meet Mike, and hopped onto to the boat.  We spent almost every minute of our trip with lines in the water as we traveled through the channel.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone.  No matter the experience level, the Buba Jean is the fishing charter for you

Mike and his wife were a pleasure to deal with. His wife handles all of the scheduling, information, billing, etc., had everything organized for us, gave tips on where to purchase food nearby, parking maps, etc. Mike is the captain and he is a great guy. Even though we had very bad weather and someone from our team got sea sick Mike was a trooper and did the best he could to make the trip a great experience. Weather did not allow us to stay at the Islands for too long but Mike gave it 110% and we had to go back to shoreline fishing as it was getting too dangerous - Mike is all about Safety First and Fun 2nd! Shoreline fishing was great, caught ton of Halibut. Mike’s boat is also great, tons of advanced equipment and Mike does a great job of getting everything ready before you head out. Lastly, Mike has a ton of knowledge to share about the local area, was quite educational as well. Great trip - would highly recommend. Thank you Mike and Karen!
