Took an 8-year old on his first saltwater fishing trip, the crew was helpful and encouraging. We stayed in shallow as the sea was a bit choppy but still caught lots of Trigger Fish.

Before the excursion, Edmundo reached out to me to let me know I could call or text or message him at any time if I needed help in any way. He even called me when my taxi was picking us up from our location so I could hand the cab driver my phone to make sure the taxi driver understood in Spanish exactly how to get us to the right place for our fishing trip. He got us on the fish and if the nibbles got slow he moved us so to keep it exciting the whole time. We got way more fish then we could possibly eat for the 4 of us at the restaurant “ASI” that cooked our catch for us at 220 pesos- located right in front of where all the local fishing boats moor (including theirs). There are also very reasonable massage’s right there at the shore you can do while you wait for your food. It was $50 for two for 40 minutes (special). We didn’t do the snorkeling but they have snorkeling equipment on board if you catch your fill and want to go do that too. Afterward if you want to shop 5th avenue Playa Del Carmen it’s a 5 minute walk to 5th and a wonderful exciting experience for shopping and bars and etc there too. We then took our cab back to Iberostar Paraiso Beach which was $32 US each way for 4 people and got back in time for dinner.

We booked a 4 hour fishing day with Captin Edmundo and had so much fun we ended up booking a 2nd day for fishing/snorkling. My husband is an avid fisherman in the states but Edmundo and his crew had advice and techniques that were so helpful for successful saltwater fishing. We started out by catching our own fresh bait We did some bottom fishing as well as trolling. We caught 3 Amberjack and 3 Mutten Snapper. The restaurant cooked our fillets and it was the best we’ve ever had! We gave Edmundo what we didn’t need and he cooked Ceviche for all the other boats in the harbor. The 2nd day he took us fishing for an hour (Caught one Amberjack) and then snorkeling on a beautiful reef. While we snorkeled, he made Ceviche with the fish for our lunch. Edmundo, Juan, Charlie and Barato were fantastic!! We will book Edmundo again!

Captain is very friendly. We didnt get a single bite. Seemed like other boats were having trouble too so no fault of our captain.
