What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Haleiwa, Hawaii for the first time?

Tuna arrive about this time of the year. Water was choppy and saw some rain showers. Fishing was great!

Take Dramamine or bonine the night prior and bring lots of sunscreen.book a full day so you can get out to the 2nd shelf and the buoy system

If the captain was right there is not much out there to catch during April. "Summer is better" so it is what it is

The experience is awesome, but just remember, you’re an open ocean water no matter what there’s a little choppy water. Bring your Dramamine and you’ll be fine.

Weather is the key, we had a beautiful calm sunny day. It made the difference in my opinion since I have been on other trips where the weather and waves were bad and so was the fishing.

Kind of a transition period. Always gosh to catch just need to get lucky! Can’t catch those open ocean shore fish sitting on the beach!!

Can’t catch them sitting in the hotel or on the snorkel beach! Fishing is fishing and constantly moving. Give it a shot! You could catch a giant!

Make sure you pick a good time of year, winter can get a little wavi for those who get sea sickness.

A little slow in December. Tuna are out there and marlin. But expect to spend some time trying to find them.

The water was a bit rough the day we were out but the Captain was able to get around the North West point of Ohau for some calmer waters and good fishing.

nothing is guranteed when fishing but with a captain and crew that tries there hardest like Alex and Larry it hard not to make it happen

Learned that October waves and swells are pretty big up in North Shore. Be prepared for a rocky fun adventure and take your motion sickness pills before setting sail.

It was first time when I went fishing from Haleiwa.Previous three was from Honolulu….If I will go fishing again in Oahu I will choose 100% Haleiwa

Weather this time of year is wonderful, but seas off the north shore are pretty rough. We have caught fish here a few years running and love it, but be ready for some decent swells.

Pack lots of sunscreen and you might wanna add a little Dramamine into your diet so that you don’t get seasick.

Watch the winds and weather closely. Had a great crew and boat, but chose to cut it a little short due to rough seas.

Expect a great fishing experience. Depending on the time of year the catching can be so so. That said, in 5 trips out of Haleiwa I have never been skunked.

Don't expect to catch anything. This was my first charter in Hawaii and the first time not catching anything. I have fished in California and Mexico and always caught something.

Be prepared for rough conditions in winter. Waterproof gear is essential unless you don't mind getting soaked to the bone.

Considering that this time of year isn't a prime fishing season, we still got into some fast and furious action. Overall I was satisfied with the trip.

In November maybe be prepared to bring a rain jacket. Weather was hit and miss in days leading up but water was pretty calm once we got to open water.

Trust your Captains as they are the more experienced ones when it comes to fishing in these waters and you’ll also catch fish!

Don’t go with expectations of catching the 1000lb trophy fish. Got have a good time with great views and a great crew

It's fishing, not catching. Don't have expectations, just enjoy the experience. It's a magical place and you will have memories for a lifetime.

Fishing was tough this day but that.can happen any place at any time. Still had a blast being on the water.

Even with pictures and GPS it took us a while to find the pier, so don't get frustrated. The water was very choppy on the way out, so take your Dramamine before you go if you get motion sick

Just be aware, it’s not just a boat - the waves up north can be rough so consider gering sea sick.

The charter was top notch. It’s too bad the fish weren’t biting. They want it as bad as us or more.
