What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Cedar Key, Florida for the first time?

Go out with a charter. It is a great way to get some experience and learn the area the type of bait equipment and fish that they are catching in the area. Our Captain did a great job and taught us valuable information and we were able to use it later on our trip on kayaks to be successful on our own.

First trip to Cedar Key. We usually go to Steinhatchee but I know we will return to Cedar Key. Lots of great structure and marine life abounds. Lots of great places to eat after you return back to the dock. Really good day spent there.

Such a great experience having this tour with Captain Jayson . We really learned so much about all the keys along with the history of Cedar Key. Learned about the fish, birds and other wildlife in the area. Saw dolphin and many birds and fish. Highly recommend this type of tour with Capt. Jayson.

Make sure you bring bug spray and a fishing buff that can cover your face. The gnats can get intense in and around the creeks and reeds.

stop by Captain Camerons bait shop before you get into Cedar key, its right there in Sumner. Its near the dollar general store.

Absolutely, Capt Cameron is what you want for local fishing. Knows his stuff and the area.

Bring sunscreen and wear a quality fishing shirt that breaths well and has a hood. Also pack a snack and drink of choice. Captain had water on board for our trip.

Due to the unseasonably warm weather the water temperatures have been elevated. Just be patient and find just the right spot.

Captain said June and July are really good months to fish Cedar Key. But we enjoyed te trip and learned a lot.

Today the gulf was a little rough but got better as the day progressed. Wish the redfish were biting but…that’s fishing.

Be ready for all kinds of weather. Take your catch to Steamers and they will cook it for you. It was amazing

Yes however if private, make sure you have knowledge of the tides and water depth. You could get into the bottom.

Check the tides first and the wind direction in velocity, don’t go with the north north east wind.

The fishing was great. Mixed bag of fish. The Red Fish were not up when we were there. Speckled trout were plentiful.

Great first time fishing. There are enough different species from catfish to big Black Drum. Great time!!!

Season is the biggest thing here... the waters aren't the warmest yet... there are fish to be caught but you have to work for them. February is a hard month to fish Florida in general, mid March to June is much better if the wind isn't an issue. Just remember it's called fishing for a reason and not catching..

Fish bite was hard, but Captain Morgan did everything he could to try and put us on fish!

Do not book A. J. Brown, period. Otherwise, Cedar Key is a quaint town with good fishing.
