What would you recommend to anglers fishing in San Jose Del Cabo, Baja California Sur for the first time?

Do it. Literally just do it. It was a blast and experience was just more than expected.

Clearly establish what you want to fish for before final payment. Otherwise they will just take you to catch anything.

Be patient and try coming during peak fishing season October through December. This time of year the fishing is not crowded, which is nice. Try out Carlos at Capricho Sport fishing.

Seemed like the rooster tails were easier to catch closer to the beach maybe not waste so much time going for Marlin. It’s a crapshoot and you gotta go way out.

It was my first time and had a great experience with Daliken sportfishing. The people at marina said I had the biggest fish of the day. Good to hear especially when u had an awesome time already

Bring warmer clothing as well as light stuff. Watch the weather for wind conditions. Enjoy the majestic whales and dolphins along the way!! :)

Fishing in San Jose late Feb and early March can be very tough due to water temps and wind - but with a good captain and a little luck you can still have a great day on the water.

Come down with a great attitude and enjoy the overall experience- you only live once, make everyday the best!

Dress warm in the morning in February. Get a Gator- a neck and ears and face guard the sun can be brutal.

You get what you get and don't throw a fit! Don't have specific expectations about what type of fish you're going to catch. Catch them and have fun doing it.

Don’t book early, check when you get there to see how the fishing is. Everything I heard from the locals is it has been slow

Remember, it’s fishing. Just enjoy the experience and your time on the water with family and friends.

Don't go fishing for Marlin in January. The Captain said March-April is a much better time to catch Striped Marlin.

Check the weather out before you book your trip. A strong cold front came thru and ruined the fishing.

They didn’t have snacks or drinks so make sure that you bring something to eat when you get peckish.

Call the hotel you’re staying at and ask the concierge to specifically recommend a charter boat that he/she knows personally. That’s what I’ll do next time.

Bring lures if you know what you want to target, so that you aren’t disappointed if the quality does not meet your expectations. Don’t expect a toilet on a panga.

Expect to be hot. Bring hats, sunglasses, water, and sunscreen. This boat is not fancy, but Jaime knows where the fish are.

Sun screen and totally covered up. Jamie has a driver who can really help you get around. Kinda like a personal Uber. We appreciated the extra effort!

Hard to judge, it's my first time. It was slow for us but heard others doing well that day. Captain and mate worked hard to get us a bite.

Talk to your captain before you book or go fishing so that your expectations are clearly communicated and within reason for the time of year. I did this and was happy with how the entire day went.

We've been fishing in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. I highly recommend San Jose del Cabo over Cabo San Lucus for fishing. Waters were much calmer and better for fishing with children.

Bring snacks and drinks for longer trips. Sunscreen is essential. Have patience, this is different than fishing in Gulf of Mexico/FL.

Bring extra beer as it was hot! Definitely check out Toro guero restaurant to get your fish cooked afterward.

This is a good place for fishing. There’s a lot of great fish to be caught in this area. If you a considering going, just do it. You won’t be disappointed.

The bite was not hot and things were pretty slow. I think a little later in the season would be better

I’ve fished San Jose in May for around 5 years. This was the best year yet, last year was terrible on the day I went. 2 years ago caught a lot of rooster and some Pompano.
