What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Tamarindo, Guanacaste for the first time?

Fishing is unpredictable. Don’t be disappointed if you don’t catch the exact fish you set out to catch, just enjoy the experience and have fun catching the large game fish in the area.

Don't drink too much alcohol before fishing like one of our guys did. Drink water and go to bed early after a good healthy meal and you'll do fine!

We were told this March was very unusual with the rain they were getting but it helped that was not so windy. Looks for a good weather and a company with positive reviews

Crew provided enough food and drinks for everyone. It is very hot in March recommend lots of Sun protection. Long sleeves shirts and head wear also lots of sunscreen lotion.

Carefully select the boat and captain. Most of te boats at Tamarindo do not have a toilet, an AC cabin

We chartered a different boat the following day and had a great day fishing. 2 sailfish, 2 striped marlin & 4 yellow fin on December 16.

Where comfortable shoes and clothing for the boat and let the crew take care of everything else.

Tell them to send you pictures of the boat, equipment, snacks, lunch, and drinks to be served.

Consider the 3/4 day trip. If we only fished 1/2 day we would not have caught fish.

Apparently the 1pm half day trip is not good for fishing. So go early and go longer.

Definitely try it, but understand that jigging takes energy at the depths you may be fishing at.
