What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Charleston, South Carolina for the first time?

Had an amazing time. Caught lots of fish and Captain Hayden Knew all the places to go. He was very friendly and my family and I had an amazing time! If you’re looking for a great time on the water in Charleston I definitely recommend booking with him! Thanks again Hayden for the amazing trip.

It was very hot and humid in mid July. Our morning trip started earlier than originally schedule(at the recommendation of our captain) so we could get 4 hours in before it got too hot. I think if we would have gone in June instead of the middle of July we would have gone for a longer charter and maybe caught more fish.

If you're prone to motion sickness, get the herbal non-drowsy stuff they have at Walmart. At times, we were rocking pretty hard and that med worked great for us! Also, take suntan Lotion and a long sleeve shirt.

If you're coming in July, be prepared for some hot fun! Be patient, as the heat effects the fishing and its hit or miss. Pick a highly recommended guide, like Brian at Heritage Charters, to ensure you have the trip possible and a fun guide to keep ya going, even if the fishings slow!

Like all SC weather, it changes often. Be prepared to reschedule or to take a trip with conditions that are less favorable than you might want. If you do not get sick easily, take a chance and get your hook wet!

The weather here in Charleston can change quickly so consider that for your trip. Bring drinks the captain has an ice chest and provides a bag of ice for you to put your drinks in.

8am-12pm ended up being very hot. Looking back I would've preferred a 6-10 or 7-11 to beat the heat.

Book directly with the fishing captain. It will be cheaper and they can help you determine when a good timeframe will be to go after what you are after. Weather is chaotic during July.

They say the fishing is better spring or fall. Our trip was good but started to get a little toasty the last hour.

Be prepared to have fun. We really enjoyed it. Even though the weather played a part in the fish not really wanting to bite. We still enjoyed every minute and the captain was a hoot.

Fishing was great! Caught fish almost on every cast. There was some little nibbles stealing baits but still atleast they were biting!

We had perfect weather so it was nice for us but I’d prepare for a cool morning and a potentially hot afternoon.

I really can’t recommend our time in April because it is hit or miss?!?!Thats why the call it fishing. Conditions were excellent but the fish weren’t biting!

Sudden wind made the locations a challenge. But with an experienced captain you can find the right spots.

Dress in layers as the climate does change from the time you leave the dock until the time you return back. Bring a mid-sized cooler for your ride home because you will catch some nice fish.

Great for sailfish. Listening to the radio chatter, there were 12 - 16 sailfish caught the day we went out.

I really can’t recommend fishing. The captain said he was one of many. I guess if you just want to fish and not keep any the it would be ok. Only thing is the price should be lowered.

If you are not used to the heat and sun, make sure you have the right protective clothing, sun screen and drink water.

Get your rest before you go. you’ll be glad you did pulling those fish in gets tiring after a while

If catching fish is important and you have flexibility, book charters seeking red drum during low tide. If low tide is in the morning, book morning, and vice versa if low tide is in the afternoon…

I would definitely recommend this fishing charter. Our captain was super fun and very knowledgeable about the fish we caught. Kids had a blast.

This was our first fishing trip to Charleston. While our trip was semi-productive, I think later in the year (May-June) is a better time to go.

Sharks were all we caught. Which was fun. Would have liked more reel time , even if smaller. But it was a good time!

Booking when it is this warm, book at least 6 hours so the charter can go to deeper water where the larger fish have migrated to.

Not all fish are running so summer is a little better but there is stil plenty to catch. Pick a calm day and go!
