What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Galveston, Texas for the first time?

The captain takes care of every part of fishing. We caught a bunch of fish we never see in Kansas. We saw dolphins on the way to our fishing spots.

Very experienced Captain and very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this crew and will be fishing with them again.

April, be prepared to deal with weather. Still a great variety and quality of fish. Galveston Offshore was great.

Definitely get a guide if you plan on going on the ocean. Worth every penny. You feel a lot safer and they put you onto some really great fishing spots.

Check with the captain about what you need on your fishing license to make sure you don’t limit yourself. He was very accommodating and helpful!

Prepare for a great experience and remember Mother Nature doesn't always cooperate and fish aren't always hungry ???

Look up solar lunar clock- shows “major and minor” bite times. Try to book your trip during the major or minor.

Make sure you have a small cooler for drinks or snacks and a poncho for wet weather. Other than that the captain took care of everything.

Ask the captain all questions before you book make sure you get to fish your self and if you have kids with you they get to fish .

First time out but fish weren't biting. The Capt even called others and they were having similar experiences.

We had clear skies and some wind, but be prepared for the sun with lots of sun screen. Waves can pickup to so take meds for motion sickness hrs ahead of time if the bothers you.

Sometimes the fishing is hard. If it were easy you are at the grocery store. Enjoy it anyway. Don't make it a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Be sure to take water and sunscreen. The breeze on the water is great but it is still very hot. We brought sandwiches each time just to have something to munch on.

Talk to the captain in advance and make sure you're prepared for the weather, the time underway, and sea state. And HAVE FUN

September can be spotty in this area depending on Temps, currents, wind and moon phase. Be sure you book with the right charter to ensure a good time. Fishing addiction definitely took care of us.

Make sure u use the restroom before u go if u have long hair put it up wear comfortable clothing u will get splashed every now and then so be ready for that have fun!

The big bay has a lot of submerged sites (old drilling platforms, sunken barges) that make for good fishing. It really helps to go with someone who knows the bay.

Let your Captain know exactly what you want when you board. If you want inshore for an hour or two and then shark for the rest, he’ll accommodate. Great trip!

Seas were high after days of strong storms. 15+ ft swells all around the jetty. Bay fishing was calm.

Get a guide!!! They have all the right equipment and experience to be sure you catch some great fish.

Watch the weather. It was really windy and the wind had the water all churned up and muddy. Fish were not biting as well as they maybe would have otherwise.

I would reccomend to first timer fishers to take a fishing guide trip or go to a fishing pier and ask plenty of questions! Its the ocean, much different than fresh water. Its good to be informed!

gotta be careful of the weather, it was sunny saturday, storming sunday and come monday morning on our trip it was humid and cold

Don’t expect to catch lots of fish, regardless of anyplace you go. But go with the mind set, of just being happy you got the chance to get out and fish!!!

windy mostly....so ...those who dont like rough water... use motion sickness meds...took 2 fishing trips in rough an smooth water...an had lots of sick fisherman...

The largest Guide service is not always the best. July weather is unpredictable be patient and let the Captain take you to the action.
