What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Fort Myers, Florida for the first time?

We had an absolutely amazing day! Our only plan was to relax — boating, soaking up the sunshine, taking in the beautiful views, and enjoying the tranquil breezes. But Captain Scott had even better ideas! He surprised us with a perfect lunch stop at Cabbage Key and made sure every detail was just right — even curating the perfect music for our trip. It was our 25th anniversary, and thanks to Captain Scott, it became a truly unforgettable day.

The weather is constantly changing. While we didn't get rained on (heavily) there were definitely showers in the area. I would suggest bringing at least a change of clothes to have ready and waiting for you in the event you experience rain while on the water.

Be sure that you’re paying attention to the tide charts when you schedule your appointment. The are normally more active with an out going tide. You will also want to consider the bugs. They are pretty thick during the rainy season. You will want to pack bug spray with a high deet content. It would also be smart to wear long sleeves and pants if possible. A bug net is not out of the question. If you have your own beach chair, you’re welcome to bring it although the captain does provide chairs for everyone. Fishing can be slow so it’s nice to have something to do while you’re out there. This is a fantastic excursion that we would do again in a heartbeat.

Get ready to catch some absolutely stud fish. Cpt. Drew works hard for you to be able to fish hard! I recommend learning how to fish with a spin cast rod so you are ready for this adventure that you are about to embark on that way you don't miss a fish of a lifetime! Bring a camera, bring snacks, bring your drinks of your choice. And be ready to catch fish. The captain knows how to fish listen to him and you will catch fish. Lady fish bring the best fight, trout bring the best hits. Both hit light a north bound freight train.

The Snook were a little tougher to find since they were just starting to move into the coves. Perfect time for Sea Trout though, they were really high quality fish and we caught one after another, 22-23 inchers were common. Next time I may wait until the Snook season opens in March and maybe the Red Fish will be moved in a little more by that time. But, I would do this trip over again in a heartbeat, weather was perfect and we found fish everywhere the dolphins were not!

Captain Tom is by far "THE FISH WISHPER"!! We caught fish consistently the entire trip. This great experienced angler really knows where all the honey holes are! This family owned company by far made us feel safe and had tons of fun! We caught everything from grouper, to snapper to name a few. They even offered to filet the fish to take home with us. I have been on many chartered deep sea fishing trips, and this was by far the best one. I would highly recommend Blind Date Charters to anybody looking for a great day fishing!!

Watch the weather patterns and try to get a few warm days in a row to make the snook more active. Still early forTarpon and the normally reliable sea trout are still recovering from the red tide last year so maybe next year might be better it you prefer that species. We had a great time catching lady fish when the water temps dipped and put the snook off their feed. Be prepared for some wind this time of year.

Ft. Myers has great opportunties for fishing. The Sanibel area is absolutely beautiful. A charter will help you take the worry out of species sizes and limits. They will also get you to the best fishing locations and know which techniques work.

If you are fishing in the morning, especially in March, make sure to dress appropriately (pants, jacket, etc). We used a waterproof case for our phones so we could take videos and pics quickly and didn't have to worry about getting phone wet. And most importantly, Jack knows what he is doing so just relax and enjoy the fishing time!

Only because January can be a crap shoot : ) It was cold the day we fished so things were a bit quiet - but 2 days later is was back in the mid/high 70's and I'm sure much better for those anglers :) :)

I would recommend finding a great reviewed Captain Guide service and be aware of weather pre forecast for your trip and make sure where you park if you have to pay for parking that you do.

Figure out what fish you are wanting to fish for. Reach out and ask questions before booking. I recommend fishing for Snook!

I would highly recommend Fort Myers as a fishing spot for first timers. Great spots, shallow waters and beautiful weather guaranteed.

Call Dillion! His experience on catching fish is phenomenal! If you want to catch a lot of fish you will not be disappointed! We caught an unbelievable amount of large fish!

Fantastic fishing but it is hot and sunny so be ready with drinks and appropriate clothing. Snacks are a plus, also.

Wear lots of sunscreen and drink cool liquids there wasn’t much breeze on our trip so it was very hot

We had a great time catching mangrove snapper, along with a few snook, it was fun and relaxing, a lot of wildlife to view!!

I wish we did come a little earlier or later to be in snook season since we caught a legal snook but had to throw back since out of season.

For first timers, no worries. Captain Fabian will put you in the fish. He is a very nice guy and we had a great time. Can’t wait to come back to Sanibel and go fishing with him again!

Would recommend Captain Dalton to anyone fishing in the Fort Myers area! Had all equipment that was needed and very good with kids!

Captain Jack was great! This was my daughter’s first time fishing for anything other than freshwater species. Jack put us on the fish! I strongly recommend him!

If sea conditions permit, I recommend that you opt for reef fishing. Inshore is great too, but I like the chance to battle a shark, goliath grouper, cobia or other larger fish...

The snook need accurate casting at structure , the trout seem the easiest to catch often striking multiples times

Winter is not the best time to go fishing in Florida, but there are enough fish to make for an enjoyable day on the water.

Remember there is certain fish biting what ever season your in. If you want to target a particular fish, go when that season is hot.

Captain Dalton had great knowledge of the area as well as different species of wildlife. Highly recommend to experienced or new fisherman.

We did the 8am it was a little chilly getting to fishing spot but it was worth it. We just had sweatshirts on worked fine. We were little early so we got started early..
