Brian Root brought his family out for a geeat day fishing in the Gulf of Mexico! Weather was good, the fish were hungry and my crew did great!

Brothers Lance and Chad braved the 5 foot or bigger seas in search of a seafood dinner and came back successful! Many boats would not go out due to the rough seas but I felt that after negotiating the pass that they would be alright. And… they were! We had to pick through a lot of small Trigerfish and a slow bite due to the full moon, but caught a mess to cook for dinner. Hopefully the bite will improve after this giant moon!

March 1st brought the opening of Grey Triggerfish in the Gulf of Mexico, adding another species to target while bottom fishing. We are also catching Vermilion and White Snappers as well, all good tasty fish to tey for this time of the year!

The trolling bite inshore was slow, same for everyone I spoke with. We caught a nice Spanish Mackerel trolling, and a second one was eaten by a dolphin right behind the boat so we headed offshore to bottom fish. The Vermilion Snappers were a nice grade and we also caught some White Snappers as well. Of course we caught a bunch of Ruby Lips and a few Triggerfish as usual, but we also caught a nice King Mackerel and a Bonito fly-lining while bottom fishing! All in all a great trip!

Anglers fishing last week aboard the Double Time had their arms stretched as we got in to some nice Amberjacks! Locally also known as "Reef Donkeys" for their ultra-strong pull, even the throwback size ones are a great fight. We can target these superb fighters on the longer trips such as 6 hours of more when the weather allows us to get offshore. You won't forget the fight, and thanks Jordan!

Eric and crew came out on Wednesday and we captured a imit of tasty Triggerfish and some nice White Snappers as well. Weather was beautiful but a bit foggy in the early morning. A 5 hour or 6 hour charter is perfect this time of the year! Thanks again guys!!!
