If warm winter continues we could see flounder by late March or early April. I plan to start pre-fishing for the Capt.Steve Flounder Tourney on April 1. Remember, the biggest fish come early, so book early!

Excessive warmth has given way to a cool wet more normal condition, and the fish are responding! Nice catches of rockfish (stripers) and a few flounder for the table keep the season going. Add in an outing to Salmon River in Pulaski NY. and Walnut Creek in Erie PA. made for a fish filled October. Next stop: Duck season! I'll continue trips weather permitting until December 1. Aloha

With water temps 10 degrees above normal and shirtsleeve conditions October is fishing more like summer than fall. Cobia, Spanish Mackerel, Speckled Trout and Sharks occupy haunts usually held by Stripers this time of year. On the bright side, keeper-sized Flounder maintain a presence. On the down side, swarms of pesky little Bluefish chop up the lures. Weatherman promises cool weather by next weekend. Let's hope! Aloha

With nature throwing us a break between summer and fall in the form of hurricane Florence (I will be off the water until 9/24 for maintenance and repair) we had a tease of things to come this past week. While shark and bottom fish continue to deliver, the light tackle gamefish are making a show with a hot trout bite, good numbers of flounder, and a few nice sized stripers. As water cools and clears after Florence, expect the bite to go into high gear going into October. Fishing should hold to Thanksgiving, so check your schedule and book soon. Aloha, Capt. T.

It's just that good right now!

The odd July cold front has temporarily halted sharkin' and fishin'. Looks to be a day spent making small repairs, oiling reels, and tying rigs. I await word from my sources that redfish have moved in. Sportfishing trips now only weeks away. Aloha
