Trip Summary

It’s a beautiful day to be alive - the sun is shining, and the fish are biting. The maverick mirage got upgraded to a 2200 Tournament edition Pathfinder. We can now accommodate up to 4 anglers for shark, grouper, snapper, and other fishing trips. The new year started great with Ryan, and Shelly catching 4/6 sharks, and some VERY big goliath grouper bites. Sam called me for a last minute trip, and we got out and caught a small goliath grouper, some sharks, and some snapper. On another recent trip Nick caught a nice lemon shark, and some grunts and snappers. The fishing in key west is great because we don’t need a full day and eight hours to get into some action 4 -5 hour trips seem to be great on the new bay boat allowing plenting of time for catching and not taking the entire day away from time in Key West. Come fish with me on the new 2200 Pathfinder located at Beach Weekend just 4 miles from downtown Key West Florida.

October Trip Highlights -Bull and lemon sharks beside the boat at sunset -Lots of medium and smaller goliath grouper -Mangrove snapper snapping -Big Goliath grouper release in knee-deep water Conditions The weather is cooling, and the wind is blowing. In between weather fronts, the fishing has been great off Key West. Lots of Tarpon, goliath, sharks, and mangrove snapper chewing daily. Calm mornings and glassy afternoons have been the norm this week around Key West and the Lower Keys. Water and air temps are steady in the mid 80s, with clear visibility and light winds — perfect for targeting both the backcountry mangroves for tarpon and sharks. Shark Fishing Action The shark bite has been on fire! Several lemon sharks were landed this week, along with some bull sharks, and nurse sharks — each one putting up a heavy fight in shallow water. These brutes gave anglers all they could handle right next to the boat before a clean release. Perfect water clarity made for great photos at the rail as the sharks surfaced beside the Maverick skiff. Snapper & Reef Bite Mangrove snapper have been steady and plentiful, both for sport and the dinner table. A few fat ones were iced down alongside some tasty Key West spiny lobster — a classic combo for a fresh catch dinner. The nearshore patch reefs and channel edges are producing well using cut bait and small jigs. Reimagined Maverick Mirage The maverick is a little boat with big shark energy. We've caught sharks to 8 ft so far, but always looking to go bigger. I'll drive, and you catch a big shark (or tarpon). The 16’ Maverick Mirage skiff is great in mangroves and flats, quietly stalking sharks, grouper, and snapper in skinny water. Even on windy days, there are plenty of places to tuck away and catch some fish . Book Your Adventure Whether you’re after sharks, snapper, or a once-in-a-lifetime goliath, I will put you on the bite Come catch a big shark - no fish, no pay. 4 hr trips start at $399.
