BEYOND THE GREEN WATER: Tactical Succe
Februari 20, 2026 Herradura 6 photos

Trip Summary

When expertise reads the ocean, the results follow. Success is not a product of chance, but of being in the right place at the right time. Today we decided to get ahead of the sun and set sail earlier than expected, a decision that paid off just 45 minutes after arriving at our famous “Killer Zone”. The first Sailfish of the morning was not long in coming, breaking the water with an energy that promised an epic day. ✨ The day put us to the test when we found a tuna stain. Despite having the live bait ready and the team in position, the sea gave us a lesson in patience; the tuna decided not to cooperate. We noticed that the water was beginning to turn greenish, an omen that for many is a reason for surrender, but for us it was the signal to pivot. We didn’t waste time. Trusting in our experience and knowledge of these currents, we move towards more promising waters. Faith and tactics were perfectly aligned: we finished the task with four blue champions. Four Sailfish that confirmed that, even when the water does not cooperate, the instinct of Mathis Fishing Legends always finds the path to victory. Fishing Report: The Tactical Pivot • Technique: Live Bait & Offshore Trolling • Location: "Zona Killer" and Strategic Relocation • The Vibe: Resilient, expert-driven, and triumphant. The Scoreboard: • 4 Sailfish Released: Majestic battles that saved the day. • The Tuna Encounter: A great sighting that kept the adrenaline high. • The Key: Moving away from "green water" to find the blue gold. #SailfishCostaRica #KillerZone #MathisLegends #ExpertFishing #PuraVida #SportfishingLife #AgainstTheOdds #BillfishAction #AnglerApproved

THE REDEMPTION RUN: Trade Winds and Roos
THE REDEMPTION RUN: Trade Winds and Roos

When the ocean pays its debts with interest. The sea has a curious way of testing us. Yesterday he gave us a lesson in silence: we were in the heart of a massive tuna patch that simply decided not to open its mouth, and a Sail Fish that escaped us in the last breath. But in Mathis Fishing Legends, we know that yesterday's "garrote" is just the prelude to today's glory. The morning began with a nostalgic atmosphere. We feel the trade winds, those gusts that smell like Christmas and that little by little were rising in tone to test us. The wind was blowing hard, but our determination was even more so. After an initial "bool" with the first Roosterfish, the Pacific finally opened its doors. We entered a surgical streak: four imposing and beautiful Roosterfish -With double included- that fought with the nobility that only this species possesses. To complete the picture, the Needlefish attacked with their usual precision and two Jack Crevalles reminded us of what a brute force fight means. What a way to change destiny! Fishing Report: The Alisios Victory * Technique: Coastal Trolling & Live Bait * Location: Costa Rican Pacific (Redemption Spot) * The Vibe: Nostalgic, windy, and absolutely triumphant. The Grand Slam Results: * 4 Trophy Roosterfish: A legendary streak that saved the week. * 3 Needlefish Action: Keeping the reflexes sharp. * 2 Jack Crevalles: Pure muscle in the surf. * The Context: From a "blank" day yesterday to a full house today. #RedemptionDay #RoosterfishStreak #AlisiosWinds #MathisLegends #CostaRicaFishing #PuraVida #SportfishingLife #AgainstTheWind #AnglerApproved

GRADUATION DAY: Honors at Sea and the Tr
GRADUATION DAY: Honors at Sea and the Tr
Februari 25, 2026
When the students become masters in record time. There are afternoons that don’t need hours of waiting to become legendary. Today it took us barely an hour for the party to start on the deck. We had on board clients with a lot of enthusiasm but little experience, and seeing their enthusiasm when facing their first catch is what gives meaning to our work. ?️? Under the tutelage of the “doctors of a thousand battles”, our guests graduated with honors. El Pacífico gave them not one, but two Roosterfish champions, worthy of any trophy showcase. Seeing those iconic ridges come out of the water was the perfect final exam for our new fishermen. In addition, the day rewarded us with a Jack Crevalle who tested his strength and a cunning Needlefish who could not resist. It was a short, intense session full of smiles. There’s nothing like the pride of someone who feels for the first time the power of a big fish on the other side of the line. We returned to the port with the satisfaction of duty fulfilled. Tomorrow we’ll fight again, friends! ??? ? Fishing Report: The "Cum Laude" Session • Technique: Light Tackle & Live Bait • Location: Costa Rican Pacific • The Vibe: Educational, high-stakes, and triumphant. ? The "Honors" List: • 2 Trophy Roosterfish: The ultimate prize for a legendary graduation. • 1 Jack Crevalle: Pure muscle to test the new recruits. • 1 Needlefish: Fast action to keep the reflexes sharp. • The Highlight: First-ever catch for our guests—and what a way to start! #FirstCatch #RoosterfishTrophy #FishingGraduation #MathisLegends #PuraVida #SportfishingCostaRica #DoctorsOfBattle #QuickStrike #AnglerInTheMaking

THE PACIFIC’S WILD SIDE: Swells, Grit,
THE PACIFIC’S WILD SIDE: Swells, Grit,
Februari 23, 2026
When the ocean tests your resolve, experience takes the helm. Today the Pacific showed us its wildest side. He received us with large waves of variable frequency and an “accomplice” wind that made each maneuver a tactical challenge. Under those conditions, working with the Billfish is like trying to paint a picture in the middle of an earthquake, but in Mathis Fishing Legends we are made of salt and persistence. Nature gave us a first look with a little Mahi-Mahi who approached curiously, but decided to just be a spectator of the “beauty” (our bait) in front of him. However, the main course was about to be served. Despite the boat’s bands, the adrenaline burst with two double spikes from Sailfish. In a sea like this, handling a double is a controlled chaos, and we manage to specify one of each pair to provide good action. We added two more individual visits: one that ended in “sancocho” (it escaped us by a hair!) And another successful release (Catch & Release). In the end, we made the most important decision of the day: return to port earlier than expected. When a user does not feel well due to the movement of the sea, their well-being is our absolute priority. No fish is worth more than the health and safety of those who trust us. We retired with our foreheads held high and our duty fulfilled. Fishing Report: The Heavy Swell Session • Conditions: Big waves, crosswinds, and challenging technical water. • The Vibe: Resilient, professional, and safety-first. • The Action: High-stakes double hook-ups in rough seas. The Scoreboard: • 3 Sailfish Released: From two intense double strikes. • 1 Sailfish Sancocho: A battle of wits that the fish won this time. • 2 Don’t eat. • The Decision: Early return to port prioritizing guest comfort and safety. #RoughSeas #SailfishAction #MathisLegends #SafetyFirst #PuraVida #SportfishingCostaRica #CaptainLog #GritAndSalt #AnglerApproved
