Trip Summary

We had a great day of fishing on the waters around South Padre Island, Texas. As a guide with Today We Fish Charter and Adventures, I was excited to take Melanie and David out for our 5 Hour (PM) Bay Fishing Trip. May is a solid time for this type of light tackle fishing, with the warmer waters and seasonal patterns bringing in some great inshore action. We met up at the South Padre Island launch point and got everyone situated and ready to go. The cloudy skies didn't dampen our spirits, as the calm conditions and good water clarity had us feeling optimistic about finding the fish. We started off drifting and jigging, working different depths and structure to locate the Spotted Trout and Redfish that were our primary targets. It didn't take long before the rods started bending, and we were into some quality fish. The light tackle fishing kept things exciting, with the fish putting up a great fight on the relatively thin line. Melanie and David were both new to this style of fishing, but they picked it up quickly and did an awesome job landing the fish. We had a steady pick of Spotted Trout and Redfish throughout the trip, making for some great action and variety. In between the bites, we enjoyed taking in the coastal scenery and having some great conversations. Overall, it was just an awesome day on the water. The fishing was solid, the company was great, and we all left with smiles on our faces. If you're looking to experience the best of South Padre Island's inshore fishing, I can't recommend our 5 Hour (PM) Bay Fishing Trip enough. Whether you're an experienced angler or just looking to try something new, we'll make sure you have an unforgettable time on the water. Had a group of anglers join me for an early morning winter trip on the inshore waters around South Padre Island. We launched at first light with partly cloudy skies overhead, which made for comfortable conditions on the water. The crew was ready to target some quality fish using multiple techniques throughout our half day adventure. We focused our efforts on sight fishing, drift fishing, and live bait fishing to cover different areas and increase our chances. The inshore waters around South Padre Island are perfect for this approach since you can adapt to what the fish are doing.
