What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Port Canaveral, Florida for the first time?

Make sure you get only the people on theboat that you are expecting to get. A captain and his mate was all we expected but not what we got. Plus the captain promised to send photos he took but we never recieved them.

Plenty of potential. Check the weather forecast first. Was very choppy and windy the day we went and that hurt and fishing experience but no fault of a captain he did the best he could under the circumstances

There is an abundance of sharks so understand that you will have to work hard to keep them away from your catch. It is an experience to see them however it is frustrating when they eat everything you catch.

If you want to send fish home check into it way before you go fishing so you can enjoy your catch back at your home also if you want to eat your catch for lunch that day go just down the road to Grill's Restaurant and they cook it up for you we did wow it was delicious.

Perfect! The weather is perfect this time of year, not too hot (24 degrees Celsius and 70-ish farrenheit), plenty of fish around, small and big whatever you are after.

Fish from the pier fish from the shore take a header boat or pay the big money for deep sea fishing. Don't waste your money on into your fishing within an inexperienced captain.

Fishing in aug is warm water. You can’t keep a lot of fish season closed on some fish the best time is from Dec to June and after September.

We caught what we were looking for and had a fantastic time but it seems if we would have went a little sooner we would have had a lot more action

The location is great to meet the Captain. The 8 hour trip goes fast! Stay out as long as possible.

Contact the captain and asks what's likely to be in seasone, bring plenty of fluids, protection fum the sun is paramount. Plan on a fun day if you book with Capt Robert on the Odyssey.

This is my home port that we fish out of, so I would say that lately fishing has not been as good, but I would always still recommend it. Thermocline has been awful lately.

Only down side was the heat, but the breeze while traveling on the boat made it feel like a cool spring day.

Expect to tip the deckhand, who apparently doesn't get paid by the captain. Don't expect to be able to use the toilet.

I would recommend that they go out as early as possible. We went midday and the sharks just weren't biting.

Sharks are easy to get hooked up with. Other species were not biting for most captains the day we went out.

We only caught one fish so my kids were disappointed but the crew was great and very helpful. We were given a discount which was really awesome of Pat to offer us.

Do your homework to figure out the best time to fish in this area. Other than that, the captain and crew took care of everything.

Bring sunblock and water. Before noon is much cooler than after noon. High risk of scattered thunderstorms around 3 pm in summer. The fishing is as good as you have heard.

Keep an open mind. Fishing might be slow but you might hook on to a big snook that breaks your line like me.

Definitely layer up. Very cool in the morning and hot during the day. Be prepared with sunscreen and towels, the sun's reflection off of the water is very intense.

Very windy which made it a bit tough but as they say, a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work. And it was good day to boot

This trip was a close to shore trip. Easy for kids. We caught 12 Spanish Mackerel in 4 hrs. Trip was March 8.

For sure travel is cheaper between Christmas and tax refund time makes it perfect time for the average man.
