What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Port Canaveral, Florida for the first time?

In the winter the water can be pretty choppy. Suggest taking motion sickness medications beforehand.

Plenty of sharks there, but if the bites not on what can you do. We were in the right place and marked fish. Just none on the boat this time.

Fish with Capt. Dave. Has vast knowledge of the waters and target fish for ALL inshore/nearshore/offshore fishing

Be flexible with what you’re looking to catch. The experience of being on the water and landing fish is the most important part (rather than what you actually catch).

Book an all day trip not half day that only gives you 3 hours of fishing and not every person had a chance to fish.

Fish hitting in morning, slowed down lat morning and early afternoon. But at least we had a nice period of fish biting

Be sure to bring some sunscreen, snacks if you have kids, wet ones, and plenty to drink. Get ready for the best experience!!

I would call a week before and check in with local ports around where you are fishing to see how the fishing is so you know what to expect

It is super warm but to be expected, lol. I have heard fishing of course is better when cooler but enjoyed it very much

Any trip in the cocoa beach area with Captain David would be great because he grew up in the area and knows it very well

Listen to your captain. He knows what he’s doing and wants you to fight some fish as much as you do.

Review the Charter company rules and suggestions and listen to and follow the instructions of the Captain.

The meeting point, dockage and restrooms were easy to find and there was plenty of vehicle parking with a very short walk(even on a fishing tournament day).

Captain David suggested we switch from the offshore trip to fishing in the islands due to the predicted strong wind

We never even got an opportunity to get out of the marina. I expect a full refund. The boat was in poor shape to the point where we had to turn around and go back to the dock

We caught a lot of Spanish mackerel got a bluefish. a couple more weeks of sunshine could’ve brought some warmer waters and different fish.

Come with an open mind, arrive 30 minutes before stated departure, be in the moment & take in the beauty all around you!

It was fairly windy which makes things challenging. Despite that, we were able to land the target species.

Not a ton of species around with water being cool but if you like spanish mackerel you can tear them up.

Our captain filleted our catch for us, but I don’t know if everyone does, so verify ahead of time. If you're staying nearby, Rusty’s (and maybe other restaurants) will cook your catch for you.

Check the boats, out of a 9 hr booking, we spent 4hrs just getting out and back, boat moved like a lead sled.

Water was rough and we had to stay near shore but we still caught fish which was the main purpose for this outing.

Port Canaveral has a lot to offer in the means of fishing. Definitely would recommend for anyone looking to get on the water and catch some fish!

Yes. There are a lot of captains there that can keep you busy. That area also has a hotspot for fish to inhabit. We’ve had a great experience for different chargers.

Know what fish you want to target and talk to experienced fishing Captains like Captain Tony because he told us what was hot and what was not.

Absolutely but choose the right charter, it makes a big difference. All the fish we caught were very fun but fine for any fisherman.

What you can catch in July is limited, however Captain Greg can still put you on Trophy sized Snook. They don't disappoint, when you hook up, hold on!
