What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Port Canaveral, Florida for the first time?

A little hot but that’s to be expected this time of year! A lot of fun with several small fish on the move!!

Understand that there are days when fish aren’t biting from the start and you may need to try several spots.

It's hot! Bring sunglasses, long sleeve fishing shirt, hat and sunblock with plenty of liquids. Dip your shirt in the water if you start feeling sick or getting too hot.

Great place to take a trip out of. The dredging made the water a bit murky, but we had a great time.

Captain Charles King. His boat, The Sea-King had top notch equipment and he was on top of keeping our baits ready for catching the big ones!

Remember the ocean is vast and your patience must also be, fishing is a type of hunting these animals go everywhere.

Go earlier in the day. The wind and direct sun will impact the fishing, but still a great experience!

Wear sunscreen on the beach before you go fishing the next day lol!!! I didn't and I could feel the pain and itch lol.

Long sleeves, shorts, sun screen, hat, baggies to put your catch in after it has been cleaned, drinks, food, and lots of ice.

Parking was easy. 2 public bathrooms a short walk down the sidewalk. Otherwise it was nice. Not too big so wasn't really worried about getting lost or overwhelmed

We caught a bunch of Spanish Makerel and a few blue fish. The captain knew when and where to catch them and stayed on them when we did.

The backchannels are wonderful. Our guide took us out to the breakers and parked. He delivered on the fish. He was a super captain and I recommend him.

Just have a good time. The Captains will put you on fish. I wanted to catch Mahi Mahi and we did. The captain did a great job.

I hear that March is not the best time, but you still caught a lot of fish, just not the big ones unless you go out 150 miles or so.

Book Captain Joey, be flexible and listen to what the captains suggest. They know the waters and truly desire for you to enjoy your experience.

It was easy to find and park and a lot of stuff to see when you where out fishing like dolphins pelicans cruise ships

Captain definitely made the trip worth while. He made sure that we caught enough fish to satisfy our urge to reel

I recommend fishing at Port Canaveral because there is plenty to do in the area and well suited for adults and kids. The people here are friendly and conveniently located close to cocoa beach

Eat at one of the local restaurants after your trip. We heard good things about all of them but settled on Rusty's, and it was awesome!

Take Captain Justins boat! Its private so its just your group...no strangers...definately will be fishing with him again next time!!

Access to Port Canaveral is about as easy a location as you can find ... plenty of parking, and direct access to ocean and Banana river.

Well don't expect to catch fish but you could always have a good day. So get a good boat Capt and mate like me and my kids had and you'll be fine . Definitely will go on ME TOO charter again.

Make sure that your charter or Cpt. can provide what is advertised. LIVE BAIT, FIGHTING SEAT, SECOND MATE OR HAND and specially a boat that is fitted and adequate for the trip.

It seemed that inshore fishing is hit or miss. I guess if I had to do it over, I’d try the offshore trip to see if we would have better luck.

Just make sure in April to check the weather and offshore reports. It can either be great conditions or a bit rough. Just make sure to get yourself out on a nice flat day.

Always be prepared for changing weather conditions at all times. I recommend bringing rain gear such as poncho or jacket.

Plan on making plans to take fish back and make sure your plans are in place before you fish in Port Canaveral.

We didn't have any luck out in the boat (3 croakers) but we did catch a shark off the beach which was awesome. Hopefully the fishing is better for you than it was for me.
