What would you recommend to anglers fishing in San Diego, California for the first time?

This is a great first time experience. If you don't know how to fish, TC and crew will take great care of you!

Watch some videos on how to use a conventional bait-caster reel. Bring plenty of bags of ice and coolers for what you catch. Be prepared to clean your own fish or book a slot at the processing plant.

Check your ego at the door. Let the Charter Captain be the expert he/she is and guide you. It will make for a much more pleasurable fishing experience!

Make sure to wear layers, bring a cooler for fish to bring home and be patient. Catching fish is not guaranteed but you can always have a fun experience.

July is a hit and miss. June is great at the Coronado islands. Need to fish in July, consider a multi day trip on a larger vessel.

Be prepared for a day without landing any fish. Use sunscreen even if the marine layer makes it a cloudy day.

Every day is different in San Diego, the variety of fish available just out of the bay is what makes fishing here so fun.

Expect to catch good amounts of smaller fish. Big fish a few this time of year. Still a good time!

If you have never been on a boat follow the Captain’s recommendation about motion sickness prevention. Tons of different fish species to catch.

Action was good but not being able to keep Rockfish in October caught inshore is kind of bummer. But this charter did well to put us on keeper fish (whitefish) so still fun!

Be ready for a good fight fishing in San Diego. The captain and staff are very friendly attentive and have great communication on teaching and giving you tips to land the fish or multiple fish.

Go with a charter - the secret to fishing is to fish where the fish are and these folks know where the fish are!

Definitely splurge on a charter. With just four guests, the crew was able to help us all individually. It was great fun!

It’s cooler than expected this time of year. Dress in layers. Need Mexican and US fishing license. Bring passport in case fishing around Coronado islands.

Know what fish are out there before going. We were unaware of Rockfish and that was pretty much all that was biting.

In December, fishing is weather dependent. Be prepared for a variety of conditions and dress accordingly.

Grind at finding fish and you will get on fish. Less boats out this time of the year which is awesome!

San Diego is a very beautiful city to begin with and add fishing the area is breath taking!!! Highly recommend fishing in San Diego area.

Book a larger boat than what this provides. Rods provided were cheap. Caught nothing in first 2 hours. Boat was so small it was hard to even stand in the chop. Wasted 910 dollars.

Don't know why, but the captain only took cash, pain to walk around with that much. Taking credit cards would be nice.

Tuna fishing down here can always be a hit or miss, avoid those days after a full moon and you should be able to get on them.
