What would you recommend to anglers fishing in San Diego, California for the first time?

The water is a bit murky from the red tide this time of year but the fishing was still lots of fun, especially around the wrecks. Dress warm, 60's on the water can be cool.

Dont always just book with the cheapest charter, look to see if theg have good quaility gear for you to use, reliable boat and knowledgeable of the area.

First time for us so really don't have any advice other than charter with someone who fishes for a living and knows the spots!

Dress for weather conditions and if you haven't been on the ocean before take some dramamine before and during your trip. Oh I also recommend using Good Times Fishing.

It was a little early in the season for the bigger fish, but the water was great, the weather was warm enough and the fish were biting.

Capt and crew took care of us and we caught a lot of fish boat was comfortable and nice. I highly recommend them.

Except to catch around 14 inch fish and not many. Bigger fish move closer during the summer. It's still a little chilly in March.

Take a private boat so a new angler can be taught properly how to fish by a Captain and crew that care

Dress warm while out on the ocean, it was really cold for us coming from Arizona. The parking is not suited well in some places for large vehicles. Research where you will be staying for availability of parking and the size of space reserved for you.

Caught other species while not on the boat. Crystal pier had a slew of wildlife.

Bring warm clothes, it may be sunny inland but cold and damp just out on the water.

Consider the time of year and what you’re wanting to catch for your first time.

The bigger fish seem to run later, so next time I will likely book later in the summer.

The water is a little rough but we prepared with dramamine. The trip was worth every minute.

Go more in the middle of the month as you’ll have better luck with the halibut.

Our experience was excellent. We had great fishing but were also able to see dolphins and whales!

The fishing boats depart promptly at their scheduled hour. Be EARLY or ON TIME for the trip.
