What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Gulf Shores, Alabama for the first time?

Fantastic!! Stays on fish but will pick up come the end of the month the and into June but appreciate there are fish still to catch and easy bookings!

Wait a bit longer in the year for other species to come into season , weather was awesome not to hot slight breeze just beautiful

Check the map to the marina more carefully than I did, don’t drive down the wrong peninsula and have to go back into town (like me)!

Relax and enjoy the experience no matter how many fish you catch. It is a great time and Captain Ron goes out of his way to show you a good time.

Dress appropriately for the season. (About 20 degrees cooler than the predicted forecast). It was also windy. You can shed layers. Captain Randy Reese was a phenomenal guide.

It’s really windy and a bit cold. Be sure to wear a windbreaker and pants. Something that can get wet. However, the trip was still enjoyable.

Book a charter, gives you time to get experience with a local and usually gets you lots of fish in my experience.

February is not prime fishing season. Wait for warmer weather! We didn't know this prior to traveling but will be back to try again during a warmer season.

We weren't sure what to expect for December weather. It was chilly so we'll wait for warmer weather next time.

Understand that fishing in October is still within Hurricane season and conditions is always changing

Splurge for the red snapper fishing trip. We had a blast on the sunset fishing trip. Caught lots of fish, plan on coming back to do the same thing next year.

Go out on a charter if you don't want to be on a crowded party boat. It is a great time if you Jane the time.

Bring sunscreen and a cooler with ice and water. It's still pretty warm in September in Gulf Shores.

We only fished in the bay, not the gulf. My husband gets sea sick sometimes and the bay is usually calm. 3 hrs was just the right amount of time for us

The fishing was great, would recommend going earlier in the summer when red snapper and amber jack are in season.

Book with Todd. We booked our trip during the hottest time and supposed to be the slower part of the season. We caught 18 and had a great time.

It’s hot y’all. Sunglasses, hat, light weight long sleeve shirt….and water. We took cold water and two frozen bottles. Frozen bottles were perfect two hours in!

Pay attention to your captain, if anything like ours they know what they are talking about. And dress in cooler clothes.

Bring plenty of drinks. Don't worry about a lot of snacks. If the fish are biting you won't have time to eat.

I would recommend a charter for sure, and a captain that does night fishing. During our week’s vacation, daytime temperatures were in the 90s, and I’m sure the fishing was brutal.

Don't pay till you get back to shore, it's a jinx! You will be so busy, not much time for snacks or drinks. Wear sunscreen!!

Take motion sickness meds before boarding the boat! Bring lots of water and small snacks! Also bring lotion sunscreen!

Yes I would recommend fishing in the Gulf Shores. Just remember, if your traveling great distances please schedule 2 or more days of fishing.

If possible, go offshore, there’s a huge variety of fish to catch and ways to catch them. We even had a huge logger head turtle come up beside us.
